Just stumbled upon a random showcase of equipment for AION. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3zfP67EC6w

And no, those are not legendary class items. And a few more:

And…compared to what we got….http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallery_of_swords

Can’t help but feel bid sad, it’s like toddler’s drawings compared to artist works (mind you AION is quite an older game)

If ya no longer see me after this post,

Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.

Obviously you’ve never played a light-armor class. Staves need to be improved, swords are perfect as they are. There are only like 3 or 4 good staff skins, but I could find about 50 sword skins that I like. Take a look at the staff options, you’ll see.

Gears = everything. I didn’t exclude staves. Those cited are just for demonstration purpose. Swords are as good as they are? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rusttooth

Ah, I see. I agree with you that the gear designs need to be drastically improved. As it stands, I do not like 95% of the armor/weapons in GW2. I don’t like the fact that Anet sticks with robes for light armor, trench-coats for medium, and chain armor for heavy. There definitely needs to be a lot more variety in the skins than a simple change in robe/trench-coat/chain design.

Even though i’ve been a serious gamer since Atari, GW2 was my first serious MMO experience. After being disappointed with 99% of the gear in the game, i started looking up galleries of other recent MMOs and was completely amazed at how the designs of pretty much every korean MMO that has come out in the past few years completely blows GW2’s stuff out of the water. Maybe they need to hire more korean artists.

There’s no point hiring good artists if the people who actually have to model the gear aren’t going to, or are allowed to, put in the effort required to get them to an at least acceptable level of quality for all races. I mean look at charr, they’re a race of gigantic humanoid bull-tigers. When properly geared they should look like pictures 1 and 2 but instead they almost always look like 3.
There’s no point drawing up the best looking swords and armour in the world if the final product is going to be a distorted smudgy mess on everything that isn’t a human or sylvari.
EDIT: Also this will never happen as anything even remotely decent is going to be exclusive to the gem store and simultaneously ridiculously overpriced (500 gems for a single bit of poorly made armour for almost 3 times it’s real value anyone?), or a 1/1M chance RNG.

Actually, I was looking at in-game model galleries of gear. Maybe they need to hire some of the korean artists who model the awesome artwork. That said, there is a lot of incredible, artistic GW art, but a lot of it is amazing based on rendering, lighting, composition, technique and other things as opposed to pure gear design. Some of these artists could clearly make epic-looking nudes if that were the goal.

Wow I played Aion and hated it, but those sword made me want to go and give it a try. GW2 really need to do something, I feel like every class only have 1-2 good looking skin, and the rest is complete crap, same for weapon only 1-3 good looking skin, and those skins are nothing compared to the one I just watched
