GW2 on steam?

i think main reason is mother (nc soft) doesn’t like sharing gem purchases with lord gaben.
In one of the AMAs:
No, it almost certainly won’t be on Steam. Valve has some new business terms will keep almost all new MMOs off Steam.
Keep in mind the GW2 client is free to download from our web site and has no copy protection. (And if it’s really important, you can add non-Steam games to your Steam library.)
Basically, Steam would take a cut of the profits, including gems, and since Steam would offer them nothing besides advertising, it’s not worth it.
And yet all of GW1 is on there. So I’m not really sure what the deal is. Unless the game is grandfathered by older rules, it makes no sense why they didn’t remove it from Steam after the change like EA did.

heheheheh.
when mother (nc-soft) has abandoned the child (anet-gw2) and gw2 finally becomes free to play, it will be on steam, lord gaben will welcome with open arms.
@Talonblaze
valve will get a profit cut for each gems purchase involving real dollars.
mother (nc-soft) is not pleased.

Might just be sidestepped in GW1 since there is no virtual currency involved there. I think everything else goes through some virtual currency.
Also it seemed like GW1 arrived on steam relatively late in it’s life. Maybe by that time the potential profit from the meager store wasn’t really worth the effort.
Well you can always add it as a non-steam game to steam and run it from there. That way you’ll still be able to use the overlay thing. Thats what I’ve done with it and have been doing it since at least last Christmas. (Though sometimes you may need to readd it, not sure why it would kick some of my non steam games out of the list)
