GW2's Birthday
They will add a new ‘Cake backpack’ to the gem store :P
Lol, serious though, i don’t really know but I’m hoping for some sort of celebration/event
EDIT: Oh and i would like to see a big gem store sale, ArenaNets way of thanking us all for supporting the game for a year.

yeh minipets / endless tonics would be awesome … but i guess Whitey is right… a cake that you have to buy for your characters birthday is more realistic if Anet continues with what they did so far^^

I predict some free and some gem store items just like all the events so far.
What I’d really like to see is a cumulative reward adding on to HoM ranks and year(s) in GW2. I know not fair to non GW1 players but (add your favorite “life’s not fair” shot here) many devoted fans/players continue to support after many years with Anet.

I expect something like this. ^

No. Not even a matter of fair or not fair, Hall of Monument rewards are there for a reason and considering people still play GW1 and can still earn the rewards, if you want HoM stuff I suggest you play some GW1.

Hmmmm, I’m kind of leaning toward a free cake backpack in the gem store, one per account. The first year can be a cupcake with one candle.
But a present for each character as it becomes a year older, just like Guild Wars 1, with a minipet would be very nice. And like Guild Wars 1, sellable. That way you can get rid of ones you don’t care for or have multiples of and get ones you like better.
I swear to God they best not give me minis like in GW1. They should just give everyone 800 gems on their birthday and let them spend it how they want.
The one year anniversary celebration and our birthday gifts (assuming we get any) had better not be tied to rng boxes from the gem shop. -.-
What do you guys think is going to happen on August 28, 2013 when GW2 will have been released for a year. What has happened in gw1 anniversaries? Do you think anet will follow the same route as gw1 on anniversaries? Im really excited to see what will happen?:)
Ps. Lets Hope for an Expansion
We will get an RNG minipet box.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
I’m sure we’ll get something nice. Just hopefully its something a bit more then town clothes.
Minipet or some kind of special skin is more expected really. Or a giftbox with random chance at a couple of things (not really RNG box that we fear, just similar to what was in gw1 with the box that could drop any number of the minipets).
There will probably be some kind of event too I imagine. Maybe a small one though.
All I want is a birthday event with the legendary GW1 birthday cupcakes back, and no, I’m not talking about these terrible things, I’m talking about these.
God I miss GW1 lol I loved killing tons of crap with an A/Me or A/Mo (Vaettir farming) to get tons of cupcakes to use for the next year or so after the event. Good times.

I think for the first birthday they should offer former guild wars one players ascended town clothes, just to annoy them. lol

For the Guild Wars 1 players, a full set of ascended armor, with stats you can select by toggling on the ones you want so you can change your stats on the fly. Plus with sparkle effects and flames coming out and footprints like a Legandary weapon. ^^
Or a birthday cake backpack. That would be good too. :-)

I want a Mad Hatter hat to go with the cupcakes :P and tea, don’t forget the tea.
I don’t see an expansion, but definitely some fun. I hope whatever it is thakitten is not any RNG items, because GW2’s success wasn’t random, so neither should be the celebration :P
Cake hats, since we have no hair with them on anyway :P AND TINFOIL HATS YOU HEAR ME COLIN! :P

It will be GW2 Birthday RNG boxes for 1200 gems.

This would be my guess too :P

Yeah, mindless farming is so much fun.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
free precursor for everyone!
hm, sorry guys, sometimes i sleeptalk…
I personally hope ArenaNet continue with the tradition of releasing minipets. I was an avid mini collector in GW & I’d love to be the same here in GW2.

As someone who personally doesn’t car at all for mini-pets, I’m hoping we’ll get a birthday card that functions as a ticket allowing us to choose one of many gifts.
I’m the type of person that doesn’t guess because I usually guess right and prefer to be surprised.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
I’d gather some minis, too if they wouldn’t constanly be removed when cleaning my inventar. So I wouldn’t care for a Pet.
Alot of the free stuff are usually pretty useless anyway (not being unthankful), such as the town cloths (cap and witch hat).
The Precursor idea isn’t that bad. 10 Treasurechests with the chance for one would be fine for me. If nothing comes out of it, then fine. But that won’t happen. Most likely something like
- a massive cake-jumping puzzle
- presents scattered around in Tyria … open them and Mobs with the heads of the developers team attack you
- an art competition I can’t participate in cuz I suck at art and the prizes are for americans only anyway
- all castles in WvW turn into cake-castles for a week, and the trebs are big candles and shoot cakes
Well in the end I don’t care, as long as it’s fun ^^

You know if you get an invisible bag, the stuff in it won’t be put in your bank when you deposit all collectibles?

Normally I kinda liked them, but there are so many around right now. I’d rather see some old GW1 weapon skins, some of the popular ones but better looking with the new game.

That’s a large part of my anti-mini-pet sentiment. Collecting them – and if you’re in to them there’s no reason not to, it’s an all or nothing thing for me – is virtually impossible without dropping a small fortune because of the rate at which they add and remove them to the gem store in rng chests.
…

Yeah but thanks for the info. I’ve guessed that’s the reason they haven’t just given the option to not stack away pets. I’ve had invisible bags before but I found them to be annoying.
Also I would have to replace a bigger bag atm, which just isn’t worth it.
Anyway don’t see it as complaint, I was just mentioning it though probably being awkward.
I’m hoping it’s a “Haha gotcha, we really were doing something back here!!” moment, where they release a massive amount of balancing and bug fixes and an expansion brimming with good permanent content with no RNG.
I know, I know, it’s a long shot, but it makes me warm and fuzzy to think about.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’d like something cool – that’s vague but maybe skins that aren’t town clothes related, because there are some town costumes I’d rather wear in battle. I wouldn’t mind a mini honestly, Or an endless tonic, as long as it isn’t an ooze. You can bet on some sort of massive gem sale though
I can’t afford another massive gem sale.
Don’t make me weep.
I’d rather have nothing honestly
As a tongue in cheek gesture, ANet will turn everyone’s minipet into the most hated symbol of Random Number Generation: a pair of dice.
This effect will last throughout the birthday anniversary. Followed by a big dynamic, lag filled, battle against a pair from some casino that the Consortium has created.
People that missed out on this anniversary battle will also miss out on all the Precursors delivered after the fight.
In the Gem Shop, dice will be available for purchase. Dice color, size, and type are random upon purchase though.
;)
Exclusive minis and a birthday cake hat. Nothing beats running around with a slice of cake on your head.
Our characters will wake up in the ruins of the Hall of Monuments with a broken pot plant on their head, realising that everything so far has been a dream.
I think it’ll be minipets again, more stuff in the Gem Store & probably yet another event in Lion’s Arch.
There is a big difference between Guild Wars 2 Anniversary, and Guild Wars 2 birthday. Not everyone will celebrate their character’s birthday during Anniversary. So, we are talking two different things, here. Though there may be an Anniversary event and/or a Gem Store sale or something, it will have nothing to do with our birthdays.
As far as Anniversary goes, it seems back items have replaced celebration hats, so…
As to the birthdays? Maybe mini-pets, maybe something new to collect, which would be nice. =)

Not even close to what I said or ment. I want a continuation. Meaning bring more cool GW armor and weapons into GW2!
A surprise subscription fee for all players of guild wars 2. It wouldn’t surprise me.

Ye too true, I’m a huge gw1/gw2 fan and supporter long term, I hope that we get some impressive bonus stuff for gw1r’s but on a whole I’d like to see something very good for charecter birthdays (I’m guessing we will have toon birthdays like gw1) so heres to hoping for the good stuff, precursor ticket hint hint….

Would definitely be a day to remember..
I predict free weapon skins that has a “rare chance” to drop in a birthday chest that costs 150 gems. Yep thats my guess.

Do you also want a moon made out of cheese? LMAO
I would like GW2 to follow GW1’s lead and give us a birthday present that awards you a token you can use to redeem for a weapon/backpack skin from the previous year of your choice. Missed out on that Fused/Sclerite/Jetpack/Braham/Rox skin you wanted? Grab the token and pick the item of your choice from a vendor. (Note that the skins obtained in this manner are immediately account bound and can’t be resold.)

I had an idea when I came here, but I got so excited from this I forgot. I don’t expect this, but what a nice gesture this would be!
Personally, I can think of nothing better as an anniversary present than guild halls, sitting in chairs and a greater variety of emotes.
Failing that, I like the token idea.

You know what? This would be great. Something like this would get rid of some of those irritated bad feelings that have been growing over the last year over the RNG BL chests. If people knew they could get birthday tokens every year, I don’t think there would be as much complaining about spending money for them.
