Splendid! Perhaps, good things abound in our future. =)
Do the Chinese get their own servers?
Not only their own servers, but their own TP and everything else. The two games will not be connected, at all.
Ofcourse, they even have different company
I suppose the Chinese get their own country too…
The Chinese version of the game will be rather different as well.
Wow, 350 million copies sold in NA and EU, thats like a third of the population…
I don’t think that is correct. Perhaps, 3 and a half million?
This is really good news for us NA&EU players…
Anet will want to give the Chinese a spectacular first few months to the game, like we had with the Karka invasion etc… Except this time it will be a dragon…
So assuming we all get the same updates (with just some minor regional changes), we should expect some AWESOME NEW CONTENT from 15th May onwards. Here’s hoping anyway…lol
That should read 3.5 million, not 350 million. It is interesting that they never managed to pass the 4 million mark even though they hit 3 million within 6 months of the games release.

The figures in the OP’s post must be based on older stats, because they have sold 4 million+. There was a thread or 2 about it a few months ago…
How many copies do you think this game will sell in china?
will get sold out
isnt that like 1 million?
Here’s a quote from the Wiki: Online gaming in the People’s Republic of China represents one of the largest and fastest growing Internet business sectors in the world. With 457 million Internet users currently active in the PRC, the country now has the largest online user base in world, of which two-thirds engage in online game play.
You do the math.
The press release on NCSOFT’s Korean site is dated April 2nd. And yes Google Translate likes to add a couple of magnitudes to large numbers, hence the 350 million.
As for sales, well they are selling GW2 which is somewhat unheard of in China for an MMO so they trying to hype it up saying it’s worth it plus having a relatively small price for the digital edition of 88 RMB (roughly $14 USD).

Is it actually going to be for sale in China, and not a Free to Play game with micro transactions? For some reason I thought MMOs are never sold in China, rather they have given for free.
Do we know if the Living Story will be at the same stage as the existing servers or will the Asian servers be starting from scratch with the karka?

Yep, they will sell the game in China, which is basically historical ^^

They will be at the same stage as us, so when we get the next Living Story update, they will get the same.
Do you reckon the Revolutionary edition has a red box?
This is exciting for the Chinese market. I hope they like it.
I’m guessing it’s our Deluxe edition.

I haven’t looked (I don’t even know the address) but apparently the Chinese official site has a big slide show and lots of articles explaining the benefits of buying a game because it’s such a new concept over there.
Although I assume it will have microtransations too, since they said they’re using the same business model as the NA/EU version.
350 million copies?? You mean 3.5 millions.
If they sell early release of 14 days with pre-order, I would technically call that a release day of May 1st.
The Chinese version of the game will be rather different as well.
Which is why they get their own servers and TP.
I’m excited for GW2’s prospects for China, but I sure hope that this game doesn’t go in a direction because of Kongzhong’s demands.
Even though NA/EU have been with this game for over a year, China can be a major player in the direction of the game due to the playerbase side.
For example, NA/EU would really like to see Cantha, but China (Kongzhong) would be very much against that, which could lead to scrapping that entire project.

You mean the project that, as far as we know, doesn’t even exist?

I never said that the project exists. I’m talking about hypotheticals.

That already happened. Cantha was originally part of the game but it was removed because China wouldn’t agree to let GW2 there unless it was removed. That’s why there was a giant hole in Divinities Reach for a year, that used to be the Canthan district which was supposed to eventually lead us into Cantha, but China said no.

China weren’t the only people offended by the Canthan district. The Canthan buildings were a mix of Korean, Japanese and Chinese architecture which offended all of them.
