Game Update Content?
Until announce of the xpac there was a fair number of updates with living story season 1 and 2, festivals, SuperAdventureBox. Now they are working kitten the xpac because people so loudly wanted it. After that, since the whole xpac is made in order to allow them easy extensions (think of masteries and specializations) the regular content will be back, son’t worry
Wat r u, casul?

No problem, I understand.
I haven’t done story 1, I only see story 2 on my hero screen.
Regular content updates… What sorts of things would that be?
I’m from EverQuest 2 and World of Warcraft, now trying to explore Guild Wars 2.
Are updates adding quests, or what ever quest-like things in GW2 are?
Seasons were regular additions of “personal story like” quests, pulling forward the world’s story. At peak they were coming every 2 weeks ;-)
Season 1 was not meant to be replayable and this disappointed people, that’s why they changed it with season 2 (and that’s why you see it in the personal story panel, but not season 1) they are working to bring season 1 back in the season 2’s format just after the release of the xpac, tho. In the meantime you can catch up on the wiki/utube and play the season 2 after (buy it, there a discounted full pack available) or join groups that are doing it for the achievs (altho if you do not buy it you cannot do achievs too) worth mention they were free to unlock if you logged in when they were live

Thanks, although I don’t quite understand.
With these regular updates, what are they adding to add new things to do in-game?
I’m just curious, as subscription based MMO’s I’ve played added new content with things to do (like quests…), and I’m liking GW2, although if it doesn’t have updates to keep it fresh, I question how people can be playing it for three years like this.
The only time sub games add content is when there is an axpansion which costs more money.
Gw2 has added tons of free content the past 3 years, with tons of events. They have added maps and redone systems(upgraded them).
The expansion will bring more maps and content, then tons of free content added later after that.
o and you cant redo LS1, it was an open world event that went on. LS2 was free if you logged in when it came out, otherwise now you have to buy it(so if u actually played the game it was free)

Thanks… With the hopes that there will be tons of new content with the expansion, I’ll stay with GW2. I’m enjoying it.

It had updates frequently until the expansion was announced, the game has a lot more than when it first came out. It increased crafting prof, added ascended armors, added Dry top and silverwastes, ect.
Gw2 never really had that much content, just a lot of adding and removing mechanics and some occasional events and stuff that went on for about a week or a month and then they removed it again leaving the game to die until they came up with another fun event or change of mechanics, i think the only reason people keep playing is because they hope the fun events will return again someday.
Well, they are throwing all their work forces on/at the expansion, so it’s understandable that it’s rather calm right now.
To tell the truth, I find there are still enough things to do. Repeating dungeons for easy cash, collecting “stuff” (weapon skins, armor), crafting ascended armor and weapons, leveling characters, doing the occasional PvP (yuck, but hooray for the reward track), crafting mawdrey, trying to get some achievements in jumping puzzles, slayer and living story season 2, and roaming SW and DT for mats and stuff, doing world events for that chance at that one lucky drop.
But is there anything new? Nope.
I think we are spoiled by other MMORPG’s that require a payment per month to play. Of course they have to provide new content, you pay them to! Here, you can thank the gods on your knees if something new comes out.
Don’t treat this game like an old toy, that you are bored off and just throw away. Instead put it down somewhere in your room, on a place you walk by daily and maybe pick it up now and then. That’s the trick to keeping it interesting.
Have a look at this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Release
That’s a list of all the major updates from release until January 2015 (when they started focusing on the expansion).
As you can see we got an update at least once a month, sometimes twice a month, for most of the game’s life. Not all of that is still available because their original plan was to hold ‘live’ 1-time only events. But after the first one went so badly they scrapped that and switched to limited time events that stayed around for between a week and a month. That was Season 1 of the living story.
They finally admitted that was also not a good idea and switched to permanent content with Season 2, then switched to making a boxed expansion because that’s what players kept asking for.
Whether they’ll stick with expansions after this one, go back to the Living Story updates or do a mix of both we don’t know. But I think it’s safe to assume one way or another the game will get regular content updates.
