Game is broken- Devs offering refunds
All I see is OP complaining about good customer service.
Most games give refunds. I’ve had plenty done like ESO simply because I said “I don’t like it” without any logical reason and I’ve gotten money back.
Devs are simply being helpful to you. Also the ones giving the refunds aren’t the ones fixing the problems, learn2gamedev
Complaining about great customer service, a new low.
A copy of what you said would help a bit. That way people could get a better understanding of situation.
It’s fairly safe to say A-net is working on fixing the crashing issues… Just because they haven’t posted or tweeted it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
When you contact support, you are not contacting the dev’s they are 2 completely different teams.
You are not a gamer of any sort, are you?
You’re complaining because of a good customer service? I don’t see many other people having issues with running the game. It’s obviously an issue with your computer. They offered you a full refund so why the hell are you complaining?
All I see is OP complaining about good customer service.
No statement on repair progress, pointless maintance with no purpose on technical site, no suggestion about anything in my system that would maybe correct the problem (send all crash reports from my files and specific configuration), and got only “if you are not happy go get your money and get lost”
If you sir are calling this good customer service then no wonder they are not willing to fix the issue. If you dont care why should they ?
Read this and scroll down a little and notice how much they have been working on crashes and then say that again.

Ofcourse they help you as much as you can, if you want a refund then they give you an option to refund. Even if it’s not your first option they give you the option, as comes to all crashes in game they are doing everything they can and more so they can not give you any more answers to that problem or just push a button so that you no longer have any crashes.

If you think they’re doing nothing and don’t care then I really can’t see any reason in even trying to address the outright fallacy of your opinions on game development/ANet.
If they knew for certain when the problems would be fixed, they’d be all-but finished. That’s how code works. They likely don’t know every problem, or how long they will take, so fixing it is a process.
If they told you, “We’ll have everything fixed by Monday,” there’s a chance of that being spread around as a guarantee, which puts them in a sticky position if anything is still wrong on Monday. Better to just say “We’re working on it” and keep pumping out patches.
You’re the one who asked about refunds. I don’t see the problem.

This.
Nor do devs make the call on what support is and isn’t supposed to do. Dev is short for developer.
Developers make the game. Most of them have the managerial experience of a gnat. A handful manage people and larger things, such as the game director. Most devs have zero experience running a company on the financial end.
People sometimes talk about devs as if they are all executives of the company. Nothing could be further from the truth. If a game company has 5 people in total, they might all have an executive say, but Arenanet is obviously not a 5 person company.
Honestly, I took Graphic Design/Game Design in college before switching to another major, I took one class on Game Coding and its so hard.. looking for errors in all of that code is a lot of work. Its going to take time and sometimes you cant give an accurate time frame as to when it will be fixed.
And I mean, I only took one class. I have no idea how hard it is with a game this big. I was only working on a small ball bouncing game as a project lol. It really takes so much time, I couldnt believe that something so simple had so much code.

Yeah man, not cool. They’re giving you good customer service and while I’ve had my fair share of crashes I’m not asking for a refund. I might refuse to buy gems though.
You’re not speaking to devs. You’re speaking to computer support. These are people that they’ve hired to follow rules and do things they are allowed to do to fix various problems. They don’t know nothing outside of their list of problem fixing. You’re not speaking to management. You’re talking to the rank and file office workers. If you say the word, refund, they will try to give your a refund.
ANet may give it to you.

so i mentioned a refund question if no statement will be given on forum or twitter.
In response:
Hello *,Thanks for contacting us.
We can look into refunding your Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns purchase.
Look, you mentioned a refund, they provided you the information pertinent to that because they had that answer available. They weren’t telling you to get a refund, merely explaining how to do it and the consequences thereof if that was your desire as mentioned in your original request.
Sure the crashes are annoying, but this CS response was not blowing you off in the slightest.
You should change your title. It is so misleading lol

A lot of fixes for no results. Could just be a PR statement.
All I see is OP complaining about good customer service.
OP isn’t complaining about the customer service.
He/she is only complaining that the game is virtually unplayable for him/her (which is a more than reasonable complaint) and is sharing with us the fact that it may be refundable.
ETA: I stand corrected, OP is also complaining about the customer service, but presumably not specifically about the refund offer?
OP, they’re using copy-paste replies.
They probably have so many concerns to deal with, ATM, that they haven’t got time to try to help everyone individually.
Hence they think it’s preferable to respond to the refund part of your request with their standard, copy-paste response, rather than just not answer at all, for ages.

You think they dont care and aren’t working on fixes? You think they just don’t care about 200+ peoples lively hoods? I guarantee you they care a great deal.
Also I have crashed a few times just like I did before HOT.
The balls on people to assume a company with hundreds of people doesn’t care is just galling.

It’s not about them not caring. It’s more about them not caring enough.
Imagine game being unplayable or constantly crashing for everyone. Do you think we would still be without some sort of official response? No. They would be very fast to make a comment, ask for feedback or give a promise of a fix.
In this case, not everyone is experiencing these crashes, so their willingness to investigate and fix is substantially lower.
How much lower, is what is on the minds of many of those that are experiencing regular crashes.
Stuff like this happens all the time with mmo expansions and it always takes what feels like a long time to fix everything. I have my own pet peeves, too. I’m not crashing, so I want the devs to fix the map bugs first…
But we don’t get to pick what they work on, when, or for how long.
Expecting ETA on bug fix is unrealistic. Bugs by nature means something unexpected. Some bugs is easy to fix but not always. Sometime bug fixes cause other bugs during test. If your hardware is unusual it would be even problematic.
Problem with this thread is that the game isn’t broken; it works for MANY people, if not the vast majority.
IIRC the refund within 1 month of purchase has been around for ages. People even mentioned doing that as a pseudo-trial thing.
An OOM issue is not quite the same as a bug although a bug could be causing more memory to be consumed than necessary. Either you run with everything at the lowest setting or you get a refund.
They’ve made statements. Just because you’re not happy with those statements doesn’t make them any less real. I’m no ANET apologist. But it’s obvious they’re working on the issue, and your inquiry about a refund was answered.
I’d like to point out a key section for you, though: “If you registered the code, all features, including game access, will be disabled.” Heart of Thorns is the new standard edition of the game, so be quite sure you don’t want to access the game through that account again if you do take them up on the offer.
I’d just like to add that not all the crash issues are OOM issues. I’m crashing in main Tyria and not getting the OOM message. I don’t even own HoT.
