Game is running out of things to do
true true true,
but I still love making alts. the question is what to do when the slots run off.
holding breath for the next patch.
and the one after.
crystal desert? yes please?
i am still playing, hoping to get more out of the more social aspects the game tries to present. i am working on my legendary journey, and am nearly ready to start the wait for precursor.
the guild i represent with only my main has started dry up over the past 3 months, and i find comfort in playing with others outside of the united states, that are still in the guild. many issues with non-reps makes it difficult to organize things to do. since many of the members feel that this is a solo game, there really isn’t much to convince them otherwise. they seem to already have “one of everything”, while i am working on my 3rd and final alt, because i feel like there isn’t anything i have yet to see, after getting world completion on my main. this 3rd alt i have i am only doing it so i can give myself another short-term goal – to get a character with T3 human heavy armor.
i hope the new guild content coming near the end of February brings some much needed social time to my guild. if it turns out to be a let-down, i may finish my legendary and my 3rd and final alt, and hope my account isn’t compromised when i go on a break.
This is kind of a crazy question – You have 1700 hours of gameplay… in 5 1/2 months (roughly 3960 hours). That literally means for 5 1/2 months, you spent approx 43% of your time logged in playing primarily only 1/3 of the game (since you probably spent very little time in pvp and only got 500 badges in wvw). Honestly, kudos to you cause this is a great game and obviously you like it if you spent this much time on it. But if you spend almost all your time doing something, it’s going to become repetitive and eventually you will get bored (why do you think 50% of all marriages end in divorce? ). I doubt any game out there could keep up with your pace.

I agree, OP – you are a BEAST!
If you’ve got nothing to do, see if you can find Final Rest for us – thx!
1700 hours. Ive played GW1 for around 2700 hours since 2004……………………..
I just play around with all of my characters. I suggest you try an other profession and even try out PvP or WvWvW [cut]

Actually I have 1800 hours, 1700 on my warrior and 100ish on my mesmer. Both lvl 80, both 100% done. I did 2nd gift of mastery for sunrise ( have twilight ), but I gave up as I would only be in game afking and checking TP if my order succeeded. I tried PvP and WvW but they seem too confusing and chaotic for someone who likes organized gameplay like 5man dungeon runs.
I just hope there is something else they will put in the game, otherwise I will have a lot of free time on my hands. XD
Well, the Flame and Frost story will be advancing in the next patch.
We’ll also be getting Guild Missions as well as more Guild upgrades, so who knows what this will entail is anyone’s guess.
What about the Jumping Puzzles and Mini-Dungeons? You done those?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
Yeah, I’ve done all JPs and mini dungeons. I even did all boss achievements too, except one that for some reason doesn’t spawn.

WvW is organized.
Join a guild/community. See what’s going on behind the curtains. WvW is very fun when you’re in an organized strike team for example, with comm. on TS.
WvW is a huge part of the game, you should check it out, see the potential.
Im impressed by your total hours played, by the way.
Edit: I don’t think any entertainment device would entertain your forever, when you use it for 10 hours a day. Everything in moderation, even GW2.

1800 hrs since release means 10+ hrs a day on an average.
If you don’t find anything that sparkles your interest, maybe you should go outside and breath some fresh air. No offence.
On a more serious note though, maybe you should try out different personal story arcs, join an order you have not yet experienced the story with or try out other races.
After 1700 hours, doing every dungeon path, acquiring a legendary, getting to the 5th tier in fractals, doing every jumping puzzle (40+), and getting world completetion on two characters, you feel like you might be losing steam?
At this point you’ve paid about 4 cents an hour for this product. Please take a break. You won’t lose out by just staying out of Tyria for a while. Check the game out again in a month or three. Thanks for all of the contributions you’ve made to the economy!
I curse God every day I spent 60€ and over 250 hours on this game …
After 150 hours I understood how much it’s missing … (I did PvP too, no legendary, Elementalist -> lame weapon skins for legendary)
It took you over 1,7k hours … I don’t think game’s the problem …
Real people left months ago …. and you just started to realize it ?
people that like the game stayed, people for whom it’s not their cup of tea changed the game that they’re playing. It’s the natural order of things. Except that for GW2 people that left somehow decided that their new hobby is forum lurking for a game that they don’t even play. Very strange people indeed!
To the OP. It’s not that the game is lacking content. It’s that you exhausted most of it. The game kept you entertained for 1700 hours. It means that you found 1700 hours of content in there. That’s in no way lacking. For now in a month or so the living story will progress to its next chapter. By the end of the year maybe we’ll get our first expansion. In comparison I only have 600 hours played here and I’m nowhere near exhausting the content. Level an alt? Put the game aside for a few months and play something else? There’s no subscription fee, meaning that you’ll be free to return here whenever you want
So were the 60$ worth the 1700 hours of gameplay time?
Why not take a break and come back when there’s more new content or a new expansion? Nothing is forcing you to play this game.
Moderator Edit: The part of your post refering to a deleted one has been removed
As for OP – You’re facing a cross path right now: either take a break for half an year and come back to a changed game (it will be).
Or simply find yourself new goals, still can’t find any? this might be your personal lifespan for what the current GW2 has to offer. Just face it and move on for now.
Me? I keep enjoying setting myself new goals, and I’m far from completing them.
But either way, if I felt I was suffering at any point I’d simply stand up and walk away from this game. Why should anyone even need to wonder about what to do next? or even start a discussion about it?
Not happy? truly? move on, simple as that. Can always come back later.

Maybe he loves playing GW2, and hates that he’s “out of content”? That’s whats “forcing him to play”.
Though, Anet wouldn’t cater to the hardcore, and rush out contents because of them. Because this is a minority.

Exactly! But he’s obviously getting bored of it now, so it’d be good to take a break while he still likes the game and come back in a few weeks/months :P.
I look at the PvE content this way. The developers took years (for discussion, lets say 4 to 5) to create the existing content. The OP completed this content in 5 1/2 months. This means the OP can complete content at maybe 10 times the rate it is produced. Sorry to tell you OP, but you are doomed, they cannot create content fast enough for you. (Big smiley face here to show it is a friendly comment) What currently amuses me in GW2? For the past week I have made it a point to kill the high priest of Grenth at least once a day. I do it for the group comments like “we did it!” and “it’s not impossible after all” at the end.
As you can see in my signature I’ve played over 2100 hours. Like you I dislike PvP in other games BUT when about a month ago I actually started to play WvW and sPvP I found I really enjoyed it. As long as you run with an organised guild or play it with friends. I was surprised how much I like it when I usually despise PvP. I would definitely recommend giving it a proper try.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
If I had the time to put 1800 hrs into the game, and accomplished what the OP accomplished, I’d feel just fine stepping away from the game for a few months. I’d ’be satisfied that I essentially beat what the game had to offer, and would come back when the was enough content added or refined to change the experience.
I just wanted a AAA MMO with no sub made by ArenaNet. And it’s awesome.”
I’ve been enjoying life outside so I still have tons of content to go through.
I suggest being reintroduced to the sun
Level 30 Human Guardian
Wow, I only have 323 hours played across all characters.
I guess I’m slacking. I’m only at 59% map completion on my main too.
What is the big hurry though? I can’t even comprehend 1700 hours of gameplay since release.
Well, rejoice! ArenaNet has fixed this problem for us by yanking dozens of our achievements out from under us and expecting us to redo them, thereby giving us “more to do.”
No official word yet on whether or not this little fiasco is going to be fixed on their end, but I am anxiously awaiting it.

I’m also solely PvP. I’ve got 4 characters. I plan on making 4 more, to try the professions I don’t currently have. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to do in this game. Repetition is not really repetition for me if I am playing with a different character and profession. My only regret is that I don’t like any of the non-Sylvari races enough to roll them and experience their racial story lines.
I’m probably right behind you on that, OP.
I’m at 1300hr, 5k AP.
My approach is slightly different as I did not touch the endgame until I had slowly raised 8 characters (different professions) to level 80 (spoke to all named NPCs on every map while at it). Only started doing explorable mode dungeons recently because I met a few good friends to run with.
I also did not play TP even though I know that is the best way to make money. Yet still, I am well within reach of my Incinerator legendary, barring the precursor which I refuse to buy from TP because i rather let it serve as a carrot on a stick to unrewarding dungeon runs.
I really recommend playing other characters, I think all of them have unique playstyle. It’s fun for me to run dungeons and gear all my 8 characters with different dungeon sets. The character select choice makes it feel almost like a pick up and play arcade game and keeps things from getting monotonous.
Keep your hopes up, Anet seems to be working on some great things atm for the game and please try to be vocal about your opinions and try to help them out.

As it will not let me edit above post, I have to say yo the OP, I am impressed with your dedication to play. I have considerably less hours invested, and have much more to do. The advice others give is good, this game will improve over time and you can revisit whenever you want to. Go play another game for a while, check outside, or just wander a low level toon about aimlessly, you never know what fun you can have.
To actually be able to get that many hours of gameplay and only just run out of things to do is nearly unheard of in games. To put it in perspective, many new single-player games barely have 24h of content – Dishonored can be played through in under 6hrs.
I’m really just flabbergasted, OP. It’s not been 6 months since release, and there was enough in the game to occupy you for 1800 hours. Doing a quick calculation, that’s approx 9h/day if you played every single day (head-start excluded). I don’t understand how you expect ANet to keep up with you, to be quite frank.
I think if GW2 was able to keep you occupied for that long over 190-some days, it’s a successful purchase, and if you’re out of things to do (and are really set against PvP in all forms), I recommend taking a break until there are things to do again.
You cannot reasonably expect there to be enough content in a game to keep you occupied for 2000 hours over the course of 6 months.

5 months * 30 days (avg) * 24 hours = 3600 hours possible. I’m counting Sept-Jan (since it was released late August and we just began Feb). And you played 2100 hours? I hope that’s a lot of afk time. Idk, I feel like I’m a hardcore gamer (come home at 4-5pm play til 3am) normally except vacations) and I only broke 1100ish the other week. O_O

Anyone else feel that the hours spent ingame claimed are a bit exaggerated? lol
I’d burn myself out of any single player experience if I had spent this long in it. Add to that watching the game take “subjectively” bad directions post release… Yeah….
The point when you ask yourself “for what” is the point that you’re done.

Christ Mirta, it’s called giving a toss about games in general, if this game is deemed a runaway success and it’s flaws are glossed over, then other games could end up sprouting up with the same problems. Add to that disappointment at what COULD have been to some folk an AMAZING game which is now the height of mediocrity, and you’re bound to have a few folks who linger on to make sure the game forum isn’t populated with people defending aspects that honestly, imho shouldn’t be defended.
No one is even really saying GW2 is terribad or the worst game evar, but there has to be a sober and realistic critical element in the community which represents the disappointment of what GW2 could have been, and STILL could be.
The attitudes of those defending the game far outstrip any bad mentalities or bad rationale as usually when the posts are solid in their critique, the response is usually ad hominem.

Before I start here is a little warning, this is solely about PVE aspect of the game as I find PVP and WVW not interesting at all, simply not my cup of tea. So please if you want to comment take this in mind.
OK, to start with this I would like to say that so far game was really amazing and even thou it had its dark moments when there were more bugs than working things, I still enjoyed it quite a bit.
I am slowly reaching 5k achievement points and I have finished my twilight recently which I though was a great thing. I seriously did, until I actually done it. Now I realized that there is nothing else to do.
I did every dungeon possible countless times, I went to fractals lvl 47 and even finished lvl 49 with guild mates with total number of 400 fractals completed, I even did every single jumping puzzle there is.
After almost 1700 hours of gameplay with warrior alone I ran out of things to do. Anet can take this as compliment, even thou I would gladly play it double the time if I could.
I even made a second char, mesmer, went to lvl 80, did 100% map exploration again and decided to try and get a second legendary, but honestly for what?
Even if i wanted to get 2nd one I doubt I could go with months and months of TP farm and turning same items into easy but boring money. I can easily claim that 90% of my money came from TP, even thou I often played up to 20 dungeon runs a day!
This game has a really bad economy and loot system that punishes everyone except TP farmers to gain reasonable amount of money.
I will wait and see how will next patch change the course of game, but I doubt anything will change as long as TP is such an evil place and dungeons are so unrewarding that often makes me refuse a party even thou I enjoy them. kitten drops are such a killjoy!
What do you people think? Do you feel the same way or you have some other stuff I haven’t tried so far?
P.s. I even played keg brawl while there were still people to play with.
I’d say you got your money’s worth and then some out of the game. If you have that many hours to devote to a game then I would expect most people in your position would be in the same boat, in any game really. I don’t mean that negatively. That’s a lot of hours logged, I’d play something else till more content comes out.
Anyone else feel that the hours spent ingame claimed are a bit exaggerated? lol

The thing is there’s about 20 accounts that are creating new posts here every day and bringing up all the negative ones for 5 months now without even playing the game. You review its bad points and if you leave you leave.
