I have several disabilities and one thing that it certainly makes harder is gaming. And one thing I love about Gw2 is how I can play with only one hand.
I play this game with a standard keyboard and a mouse with dodge bound to it and because of this great game design I can play any game mode I set my my sights on.

I really enjoy PvP and fractals, one amazing thing about this community is how many people are understanding once I explain why I have to take somethings slower than others (Jumping puzzles are the bane of my existence) so I salute everyone who has been patient with me (especially in uncategorized\chaos fractal) thanks to all of you.

There are so many things I could say about the incredibly positive experience I have had in this game, but I will do is compliment the team on creating this game, I have had so much fun over the years and I look forward and hope that it will continue.

Thank you all once again.

One thing you may wish to try is an MMO gaming mouse that has several buttons on the side. I have the Razer Naga Molten mouse and in addition to the standard 4 buttons+mouse wheel, it has 12 buttons on the side that can be clicked fast and easy. This means all skills can be done with the mouse as well as moving at the same time. Could easily bind the jumping button to one of them which may help you with the jumping puzzles.

I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery, which meant about 6 weeks of playing with one hand. I wouldn’t even dream of trying Pvp that way. My hat’s off to you. Keep it up and more power to you.

I’ve heard about those gaming mice, they do seem useful.

I recommend the corsair scimitar. It’s pretty, glowy, and feels the best of any mouse I’ve tried. You can also slide the keyboard and lock it into place where it feels the best for you. Having a 12 button keyboard on a mouse is hard to get used to. I still don’t use every button like 1-5. I use my left hand for those, but I always wonder if I’d do better if I made some muscle memory pathways using the entire keyboard on the mouse.

Anyway, I believe if you play with one of these mice and action camera you’d have the best play experience. The problem would still be casting while moving. So maybe the answer is to go with a mouse with even more buttons. BUTTONS!

If you’re going to get a mouse with lots of buttons I don’t recommend Chroma Naga. It has a 2 buttons that are used to make mouse movement easier or harder. This sounds great but in reality you can’t fine tune it exactly and mouse movement either feels too slippery or too laggy. If you finally get it close enough an accidental button press can send you back to trying to get it just right again.

I have Chroma, didn’t experience your problem. For me it’s a very solid mouse.

However, OP, if your fingers are small you may have a problem with reaching 1-6 buttons. Being in roughly same boat as you I just use side buttons for jump/dodge, wheel for [F] and clicking for everything else. With a proffesion that is comfortable for you and making it your main you can accomplish anything
But at least give a try to them all, otherwise you won’t know what really fits you!

And if you’re playing on an EU server, give me a call in game and we may try to figure out something more than dodge button together.

Sure, no problem. Depending on how many buttons you need, there are mice with different amounts of them. Full side 12-buttons may be tough on not-miniature fingers and, of course, there are different companies producing them. I like my Naga but for you something else may be perfect.

I both applaud you and envy you.

I too have roughly the same handicap, one good hand and about .2 of the other. I applaud you because you play. Good for you.

I envy you because you play things I can’t. It’s a “twitch” game, and I can’t twitch and run a good sequence without needing the 2nd hand more than what I can do with it.

I understand DPS to a fare the well, so know what I should be doing, but haven’t found a way yet.

Good hunting.

Well, if you are in North America send me a mail ingame, I would be happy to help you figure out a way to play better! :-)

I’ve done okay in parts of the game I play. I have 9 characters, one of each type, all 80 elites. All have ascended weapons, ascended coat and pants, and a full set of ascended jewelry (thanks to LS3). I have all crafters to max level. One can do those things one handed, for sure.

I raised the first two with the Been There Done That approach, soloing everything. I raised the rest gathering mats for Ascended weapons/armor (sell excess, buy what can’t be farmed at the TP). I hated to waste all that gathering experience on level 80’s, so rolled another character and out they went. The rose to 80 in the rags they got from drops, then at 80 got a full set of exotic, and ascended weapon(s), and were sent out to solo a champion. Any champion. That’s how I learned to play the class, rather than the occasional skirmish while gathering. I don’t think it’s too big a deal to kill a champion, as many can kill lot tougher ones that I have, but it’s my test for did I learn the class. C’est la vie. Fun to figure it out and do. I’ve died a lot of course, but got it done. That earned them an ascended coat, pants and full set of jewelry. If I couldn’t play them well enough to solo it, they just sat there camping some chest nightly until I could, or ran World Bosses gathering ectos.

I’ve avoided PVP and instances. PVP because I don’t twitch well, and instances because I can’t keep up with folks who have run them for years and just run through. I hold them up, and the loot is no better than open world bosses. I must have run several thousand instances in another game, so I didn’t miss it.

Wow, that’s impressive, I like how you too found a way to enjoy the game.
It’s funny though, I love pvp and instance play but I don’t do very much in open world or crafting. It’s kinda like we are inverted in playstyles.

My hat is off to you.

I would never have patience to craft anything ascended. But the speedrunnig instances is a reason why I very rarely run dungeons (though sometimes I can find reasonable groups) and absolutely never run fractals. Running like ADHD on speed is not my playstyle.

Don’t have much problem with casual unranked PvP, it’s not so much about twitch reflexes as it is about learning what each proffesion can and most likely will do. Aside of few exceptions people tend to be very predictable. And prediction game is something I thrive in. That’s why I don’t like speedrunner mentality and the chaos it brings.

Although I do fractals I will admit I avoid speed run groups, and I never go into elitist groups.

Sometimes I end up carrying groups or teaching someone who has never done a run before, I personally don’t have any problems with new players, Ive met some cool people just by helping a random who asked for help.
