When I saw the Sale of Silver Fed Salvage 0 Matic
I was going to get it , UNTIL
I saw it cost 60 coppers Per USE
so to do the math , 60 coppers x 25 = 15 silver
25 Master’s Salvage Kit cost 15silver 36 coppers
25 Journeyman’s Salvage Kit 8s
25 basic salvage kit 88 c
not much of a saving
on top of costing 400 gems to get = 5 us dollars
if it was Free to use or cheaper per USE , I might consider
but ATM its not worth it
if people use basic , fine or Journeyman , which cost much less

You also need to calculate the value of the mystic forge stones and what happens if you run out of them.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

People need to start treating it as a convinience item instead of an upgrade. I have one of those Silver-fed and never look back.

in this particular case though you get the same level of convenience by buying a stack of master salvage kits, gems would be better spent on a convenience item that has no equivalent. Add on top the convenience of all the gold you save by using master over time and it adds up quite significantly. Silver fed should be modified to cost a fraction less than master then it would be a great buy.

I mainly only buy Master kits. I cba to purchase different kits for different rarities, no matter what people say I could save doing so, somebody told me about 200g/year, less than 1g/day. Given the fact we get 2g just for doing a quick daily, saving that gold on salvaging means not a lot to me anymore. I make Mystic kits when I have the stones, and seem to get enough black lion kits from Fractals
I jumped on the Silver-fed today, I only use the master kit ingame. It’s a convenience item. If you feel it’s not worth it for you, don’t buy it. It was for me as I never have to buy salvage kits again. Woo!

You just did the math of it though:
Master kit for 25 uses : 15s 36c
Silver-fed for 25 uses : 15s
The gem cost is what you pay for the convenience of not having to buy kits and use inventory space. Good deal for most.

Kitten.

You are absolutely correct: it takes hundreds of thousands of uses, or more, to “pay” for itself, if it ever does. (Which depends pretty much exclusively on your counting mystic forge stones, from spirit shards, as “free” or not.)

It’s one hundred percent convenience, and I have absolutely no regrets. Min/max money earning, I shoulda used the mystic forge ones, but I literally don’t care.

You can get Mystic Forge Stones from Spirit Shards? If so, please post how. I’d gladly spend my Spirit Shards on Mystic Forge Stones.

People almost never look at the convenience of such an item. I have both the copper fed and silver fed in shared slots (another pricey convenience item) and now I never worry about running out of salvage kits on any character every again. You don’t buy convenience to save money, you buy it to save time.
