Guild Wars 2

Just logged in after taking a hiatus of two months or so and was surprised to see that it takes nearly 200 gold now to buy 800 gems. Apparently since the beginning of August, the price of 100 gems went from 17 to 25 gold. Is there an explanation of that kind of steep (and unprecedented) rise?

It recently went up because of the sales. I came back last friday and 500 gems were around 80-90g I think. Just give it time I guess. It should come back down slowly after the sales end.

Yup its the sales. They were down at about 44 gold when the HOT pre-purchase came about. I bought maybe 1k gems because of how low they were. It will die back down again and who knows we may have some new free players buying some gems to help with that.
