I searched a bit thoughout the forums here, but I have not reached any similar theme being discussed. My concern is, in fact, quite simple – is there any possibility for me to recieve the Belidna’s Greatsword skin? Or any other stuff from so-called Gem Store/historical: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store/historical#gemstore30?

I think it would be quite pitty and a little bit unfair if those nice skins and other stuff would be for old players only.

In the case you are planning to make it aviable for us again – when it is going to be? :-)

The 3rd birthday of the game is really soon, and the last two years they have had big sales of previous gem store items. I’m pretty sure there will be another sale this year and some of that stuff might be in it. Can’t promise specific items cause we don’t know what they’ll resell, but I doubt they’d not do the sale this year

Many of these things do come back to the gem store periodically. Others (like the celebration hat which was intended to be exclusive to people who played the headstart weekend) probably won’t.

Others are actually completely redundant now, like the Instant Trait Reset item and the Transmutation Splitter, because the mechanics they worked with have been changed.

Belinda’s Greatsword is very likely to return at some point, but they never tell us when until it’s just about to be on sale. (See below for one reason for this.)

As for why they do this there are two main reasons I know of:
1) It makes it easier to navigate the gem store without having to scroll through tons and tons of items.
2) It actually increases sales. If an item is up for sale indefinitely people like me will keep debating whether they want it, how much they want it, whether to get it with gold or cash and may end up never buying it at all even though they fully intend to ‘one day’. If it’s limited time you can’t do that, you have to get on and decide and that makes some people much more likely to buy it. It also means people are less able to save up gold to convert to gems and therefore more likely to pay cash.

With some items it may also be that it’s simply not selling that well. For example they removed the bear and leopard hats but left in the other fuzzy animal hats. In this case I can imagine someone at Anet looked at their sales and found that hardly anyone bought these two, so when they decided there were too many items on the style tab and they needed to clear some out to make it easier to look through they were the first to go.
