Gem Store Idea ! Read anet
and if the people start going o the spam the spam just make a seperate guild recruitment channel that this thing would post in.
Only if there was a way for players to turn it off.
I am not looking for another guild, and even if I was it’s highly unlikely I would consider one that recruits by spamming chat. I can accept the current level of guild spam (usually 1 or 2 guilds per zone posting once every few minutes), but if they were all able to spam everyone at all times it would be overwhelming.
Although the same effect would also make it less effective for guilds trying to recruit because your message would be lost in among all the others. Unless they added very strict restrictions – like each person can only post 1 message to this channel per day.
And at that point you may as well just stay in LA and post your message there.

Vindictus had this and it was filled with ppl trying to sell things, trolling, and botting (which would still happen with stolen accounts).
Maybe I’m misremembering, but didn’t they have a device like this in game during the beta weekend events back in 2012? I seem to remember a trumpet device that could be used to speak on all maps, possibly it was from the gemstore. If it was, it didn’t make it all the way to launch.

dont know about beta didnt play then.
What about a guild recruitment section for a gold fee in the lfg instead? People could look when they want too and the gold fee would possibly reduce an excess of posts.

Yup. And not only Vindictus, many other MMOs have the same problem. :c

There was such a thing. The Megaphone Broadcast.
I don’t remember when it was removed, exactly, but it wasn’t popular, at all. Many, many complaints about the item.

It doesn’t matter if only accounts older than 2 years could buy it… that wouldn’t prevent bots. Bots often hack accounts rather than buy them, so they could just hack older accounts to bypass this restriction and buy the item. Or even better, hack somebody who’s already bought the feature.
I don’t like the fact that people already map change and spam guild recruitment messages, either. On occassion it has been difficult to have conversation because of lengthy recruitment messages (and guilds competing to have their message visible in the chat window).
This seems like an item that would make this even worse. Fair enough if there was a chat channel particularly for this (so people could just hide it), but I’m willing to bet that it would be flooded with so many messages that it would be practically unusable anyway.
Another solution to your request? Add a guild recruitment tab in the LFG.
-Visible anywhere
-Only is seen if people are actually interested/browsing. Doesn’t spam up chat
-Filters could be added so people recruiting/looking for can more easily find what they want
-Easier for recruiters too. Doesn’t mean you have to spend money waypointing, or putting hours into rotating map and spamming the recruitment message
I much prefer the idea of a guilds section in the LFG tool.
IMO the most sensible way to do it would be to have different sub categories for PvE, PvP, WvW, RP and PvX and restrict to either 1 advert per guild (which shows up in all relevant sections) or 1 per guild per section if that’s not possible.
And unlike the party and squad adverts these ones should stay up for a long period of time, even if the poster is offline. I was going to say indefinitely but it might be better to make it 1 month or something so it doesn’t get clogged with adverts for inactive guilds that no one remembered to remove, and to prompt active guilds to update their info periodically.

Ah. Thank you. Either good memory there or mad internet skillz. I couldn’t remember the name and couldn’t find with a search, but I distinctly remembered seeing something like an all map broadcast device back then.
