The price of gems is very high when i did some research and found that there is ALOT websites that sell Guild Wars 2 money already. Does Arenanet even care about people buying their gold from other players? Because they are selling aswell gold for players (gem -> gold) but with huge prices… If i would buy gw2 money, im 100% sure i wouldnt buy gems and change them to gold…

Just would be nice to have Arenanet opinion on this!

ps. link if they have announced something about this!

Option A.) Buy Gems from Anet directly and convert to Gold for a relatively fair price with no consequences.

Option B.) Buy Gold from online marketplaces illegally, likely get a better return per dollar. Likely get yourkitten banned permanently as the only means to get the money to you is via mail. Leaving a nice paper trail.

Gem > Gold prices are terrible.

I bought the expansion last week for about 5.5 gold. Saved myself 20 bucks.

Gem prices go off how many people are buying them with gold. The more people that are buying gems with in game gold the prices will go up and the less people buy the prices will go down. could not find the link i saw it was a good while ago

I am also amazed at how few gold you get for your gems. I bought 4k gems, no way I will convert any of them for gold for the current exchange rate. I always figured I would be on the gold-buying side of things(having no problem with spending rl money on gems) however with the current rate I am acually thinking of selling my 3 gold that I have accumulated and get like 1200 gems for it!

There must be some BIG spenders in the game, buying gems and converting them into gold right now else the rate would have gone up already, with there being more gold in the game now then at release. So far, prices still seem to drop! Big spenders trying to muscle their way to a legendary probably.

I would never buy gold from gold sellers, but if I was forced to pick from a gold seller and using gems to get gold, I would pick a gold seller.

Karma is abundant
GEMs are fairly easy to come by if you just outright buy them
Gold however…You make an Avg of 15s/Hour during playtime in the mid 40s
Unfortunately most everything is gonna cost 2 – 3s to get and then there’s the materials if you craft that also sucks out your funds so by the end of it all You’ve ran around killing indiscriminately and had fun throughout the whole zone to 100% only to end up with like 30s and this is a 25+ zone it seems a little insulting that you get a TON of Karma and can buy Gems all day long for various needs but when it comes to the conversion rate of Gems → Gold it’s…Well lackluster due to the fact money appears to be the scarce commodity in GW2.
Whatever happened to Platinum? did it downgrade in value so much over 250 years that it’s worthless metal now?

Yes, at the current conversion rate, the Trade Company is not really being the competitor/bane of the RMT market that they would want it to be.

I mean seriously, I would get about 4 gold for the 2000 gems that I have left, which cost me 25 Euro’s…
25 euro’s to get an amount of gold that would hardly buy me a single exotic weapon. Never mind trying to buy your way towards a Legendary….

Never worry about me buying RMT gold though, I will happily keep playing the game, and one day you will get some serious gold for your gems. I hope.
