Recently i started playing some of my older unplayed characters and i found the reason i don’t play them..is the Voice.
The Voice on most of my humans make them unplayable.
Shreeking female guardian..“SAVE YOURSELVES” is enough to make you close the game.
My male Mesmer sounds feminine, so much i want to play another race. I would like the option to make him sound like a trucker, or at least like a man.
So here is to being able to buy different voices for your races..with gems of course.
I think this would be quite popular among the masses.

No, not gonna happen. That would need new voice actors for the story. Unless you just mean shouts and ambient dialogue… I think those need a rework too! xD

I’ve been tabulating all the requests in the Gem Store Suggestions thread (you’re likely to get merged to that). I’m done with page 9 now (still on posts from 2 years ago) … this is not a fast project … and thus far there are 10 voice change requests and counting. If you put yours in that thread then on the far off day that I finish all 70 pages, I’ll add you to the count

Lots of us would love that. However, I can’t imagine that it’s cost effective for ANet.

• Hiring a service to vet voice actors (VAs).
• Final casting by ANet staff.
• Thousands of hours of recording, whittled down to what we hear in game.
• Edited to fit the timing, match with the rest of the game.
• The same thing for French, German, Spanish (and probably Mandarin).

Further, those same VAs would have to return to recording sessions for future stories, new skills, buffs, etc.

And on top of that, Voice is one of the biggest contributors to the size of our already large gw2.DAT file (if you want to test that, just add support for one other language and compare — I don’t recommend it, as you end up having bigger downloads with nearly every update going forward, especially the big ones.)

yes? aesthestics are not exclusive to a specific tone of voice

OP explained that they didn’t like the “screaming” of the human female (I don’t either). I’m only really bothered by the Norn female voice — I feel that the actor did a cold reading and stopped. I stopped playing one of my toons entirely because I can’t stand that voice. (“New land! NEW LAND!”)

So yeah, I’d love it if they were reworked. As I described above, I don’t think it’s practical.

I just don’t imagine the shattering butterfly effect coming from a deep voiced burly Sylvari, Asura or Human and I think deep voices do kinda sound odd coming out of someone it doesn’t really “fit” with.

FWIW, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Mesmer that isn’t a Human or Sylvari or Asura.

I have to say of all the races the Norn female voice could really use a Re-Do :s (mostly the knockbacked/cc related lines)
