Instead of outright preventing armor or weapons from being used, give all weapons a “Default” kit that isn’t influenced or themed by the profession, and gives a identical function between classes.

For no weapon equipped at all, some kind of pugilist move set would be nice, as currently you are completely helpless without a weapon equipped.

Allow all armors to be used, but inflict a penalty for wearing armor above your rating (like 2.5% slower movement per piece, 5% two levels higher), and a perk for wearing armor below your rating (slightly faster movement speed, but not enough to reach swiftness 33% or signet 25%)

Oh, by the way, if you take your weapons off and press Z as a charr, you’ll lift up your arms and start banging your head against the ground hilariously as you run.

That armor rating affecting speed is totally unfair to light classes (unless it gave them that much more of a defense bonus, but the stat differences between armor classes aren’t THAT heavy, the extra tankness heavies get is more due to class skills and traits than the actual armor stats)

Weapons though, sure I’m actually for it.

The bundle system makes this ridiculous anyway. ANYONE can use a Rifle, Bow, Hammer, Pistol, Shield, Axe, Greatsword, Flamethrower/whatever already, it’s just you can only use very specific ones. If I can pick up an ice bow and shoot it, it’s kind of silly I can’t do the same with one that’s in my bag. And my mesmer lugs around an entire stack of Ice Rifles for when I feel like it.

It kind of messes with the whole benefit of elite specs though.

It could be even worse than racial skills and the generic moves could be worthless and you only get one skill, but then it could be something you could do just to mess around or for roleplaying.

Like any non-gunner class could get a pistol or rifle and the only move on it is “Pistol shot” or “Rifle shot”
Melee weapons just have a lousy AA chain.
Non mages would just bash someone over the head with a focus for like 10 damage. Etc.

Most RPGs give every class a completely worthless punching attack with no weapon equipped. But at least they have it so unarmed characters won’t just stand there if attacked.

Since all that stuff is essentially useless it is fluff, and Gw2 is kind of low-fluff when it comes to those sorts of features (No usable chairs, for example) but I wouldn’t mind seeing it.
