Season 1 rewards – the items, to be exact – that you can get from the laurel vendor are really well done. Twice now I have scrapped gold to gold to buy items: one was the blue Zephyrite helmet and the other the dragon horns helmet (which looks awesome on my norn). Why season 2 rewards are so ‘meh’ in comparison? We didn’t really get anything related to the story or characters (except the jewelry, which doesn’t count because you can’t show off with it :P ).

well there are couple new armor skins, minis, tonics etc essentially the same items

what about mawdrey? or the toxin back piece?
or those dry top insect weapon sets
what about carapace and lumi armor sets? (that are diferent for all 3 types of armor rather than having the same skin with different labels on them light-medium-heavy)?

You get twice the same armour but with different shading. I was talking about skins, should’ve been more clear.

also the precursors to mawdrey which can also be shown off

To each their own I guess. I did not particularly care for the first season cosmetics.

also you have to understand each season is structured differently in season one each episode was essentially its own and seperated from the others so it could each have unique items tied to it. Season 2 is more drawn out on one area, then moved onto the next.
