Get rid of Loot as rewards
Care to elaborate?
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
All rewards in this game are based around loot. But we never have any use for the loot. Gear progression is capped and the best skins are specifically farmed for/purchased
.
Keep dropping crafting materials – but please introduce a loot system that we can actually use…
Once you salvage the loot that drops, it becomes crafting materials.

That the big draw to GW games all loot is useful unlike other mmorpg gear you do not need or want is more then just npc gold its crafting mats.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Loot that can be salvaged gives me to option to either salvage for materials or sell for a few coppers. Not seeing the problem with loot, unless I am missing something.

You do realize that the skins you farm or buy are acquired by loot, right?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

You may not have any use for that loot, but other people do.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I love loot, and as it was stated your can break down gear to crafting material also you can often sell material, also luck found from breaking down gear. Maybe just increase cool skins for loot would be nice.
I think OP is mainly referring to the white – green trash drops and actual junk. I’m kinda tired of seeing ’em too, they basically boil down to pointless clicking for salvage or sale to vendors. And it really is a lot of clicking. Would be nice to get more useful drops – crafting mats and coin, while the essence of luck could be deposited somewhere other than my inventory and I got notified whenever I go up 1%.
There’s not really a way around this though, and salvage kits are probably a necessary gold sink. I burn through roughly 3 or 4 in each hour of playtime.
Use the mystic forge to create salvage kite. It is the three salvage kits plus mystic forge piece you get a 250 salvage kit, best in game i believe. MIND BLOWN
CALLED IT.

they could add new recipes like they have been doing for back items, new FABULOUS skins only obtainable via crafting (not the mystic toilet), using drops exlusive to some monsters on a specific area or specific boss loot… or something like that

Actually the mystic kit has the same specs as the master kit. The best in game is the Black Lion kit.

- This economy is brilliant for the diverse world we live in. But GW2 world with its loot tables is not so diverse. If you’re playing level 80 character, you get the kind of loot every person playing level 80 character gets. What you value is pretty much the same every player who is playing the game values, which is why the economy is so dull.
Let me illustrate this with an example:
Bolts of Silk (BoS). Every ascended armor requires lots of Bolts of Silk to craft. Tailor 3.6k BoS, Leatherworker 2.4k BoS and armorsmith 2.5k BoS. So everyone places high value on Bolts of Silk, which then affects the value of items that salvage into Bolts of Silk. Suppose you didn’t care about ascended armor. What logically follows is that wouldn’t care about the whole item system in the first place. It’s not like you pick up some piece of equipment to wear it. There’s nothing in the item system but the single-minded purpose of affecting the killing speed and survival of your character. It’s not about resource management.
Games with great loot systems keep players coming back (ex: Diablo, Borderlands, Baldur’s Gate and many others). The loot system in a game should feel like a slot machine. Pull the lever and occasionally a payoff will hit, eventually a big one. GW2 greatly lacks a reliable payoff system. Players should be able to equip themselves with some of the best gear from drops in a reliable fashion.
With the existing system they would have been better off just dropping the crafting material since it stacks and would greatly reduce a time consuming, crappy part of the game (inventory maintenance). It also makes some sense that a creature like a boar would drop a hide rather than a piece of armor.

This wasn’t always the case. Loot used to be bound the area but than people complained so not long after launch it got bound the level of your character. Before you could only get silk and other material from Orr (only lvl80 place) which is why it was farmed so much. Only exception was chests which dropped loot based on your level.
[GWAM] and [LUST]
Mess with the best, die like the rest.

- Yes. Still, there’s something very sad about one source (Anet development team) having complete monopoly about what’s valuable and desirable about game, which makes it pretty lousy economy simulator.
