Januarry – I play Ele sometimes because I hate my existence
[oPP] – Over Powered People
I created this post to vent some frustation I’ve been having with the GW2. Please bear with me. I’ve played this game for 1.6k hours since launch. Since I started playing GW2 I have never logged off because I was just plain bored in the game, but recently I’ve been getting extremely bored of the game. I’ll start with the two places of the game where I spend the least amount of my time. PvE and sPvP.
I honestly don’t PvE much at all, as I don’t find it very fun anymore. I am not a real fan of dungeons, I will do them time-to-time to earn some cash, but otherwise I don’t do them. I do like FoTM(kinda) but I find it annoying that I am passively forced to do it to acquire ascended rings and backpieces. (No dailies is not an option, as Anet purposely priced rings higher in the laurel vendor to ensure people do fractals for their rings).
I have some experience in sPvP, and I like it a lot, but I find that the only way to ensure victory is to basically have classes built to tank points. Glass cannons, and Hybrids frequently can do nothing to counter these bunker builds, and I feel it has crushed the sPvP scene. I don’t know much about the history of sPvP, as I started only a couple weeks ago, but this is what I have noticed as of now.
I’m an avid WvW player with many many kills, caps, and etc., but I can only play the same maps, with the same strategies so much. With the new WvW update, in higher tiers it has become increasingly difficult to just roam with a small group, and WvW is honestly not that fun anymore. Yes Anet added the new ranking system, but that is just not enough. I mean, we can’t even see our teammates titles. I thought the whole point was to show off our dedication to Wvw, but as of right now only enemies can see our ‘titles’. An enemy that doesn’t know you nor will ever know who you are is the only one who sees you title. There are a number of things that I would love to see Anet implement back into WvW, Orbs per say. I know Orbs where a problem, but it gave the WvW the extra ‘fun’ factor. I feel like there needs to be other objectives on the borderlands, other than just taking towers and keeps to gain some points.
My main issue is with the PvP in the game it has just become repetitive and frustrating. I have some friends that feel the same way. I want to keep playing Guild Wars and I still probably will for a couple weeks or months, but I’m getting to the point where I just can’t find anything ‘fun’ for me to do.
Maybe I’m just being ignorant and whiny, but I just feel that this game still has great potential to become very fun. More thoughts will come, this is just what I have been thinking lately. I’d love some feedback, opinions, and etc. Thanks!
You got 1600hours for 60 bucks. What other one-time purchase game gives you that much of game time for that amount of money? Except Guild Wars 1 itself none i presume.
I rarely log myself past weeks cause im not finding much to do in game anymore also but even with 800hours i feel like its money well spent and im not complaining.
TLDR: I have a very limited play style. There’s a lot on offer I just don’t like, so there’s not enough for me to do.
That’s fair enough. If you don’t enjoy PVe, and you don’t enjoy SPvP (you probably have a valid complaint about it). well, no one can help you.
You don’t, however, have to do Fractal Dailies. I don’t. You don’t need any agony resistence to do level 10 and if you do a level 10 fractal ten times, you’ll be able to get a ring, whether you do the daily or not.
Plus each time you do the daily you have a chance for a ring. My wife got a ring the very first time she did a level 10.
The only thing making you do a daily is your own mindset. Do it when you want to, like I do, not because you’re forced to.

Are you high? Your sig says GW2 is the worst PvP game in 10 years… If that’s not complaining… and I’m also not sure how you could even say that… you obviously didn’t try TOR…

I do fractals when I want I’m just saying that I have to do Fractals to keep on par with others in WvW
My best suggestion would be to pick up another game just because you play an mmorpg dose not mean you must give up all single player games. Back when i was into ff11 i played a lot of side games when i felt the game was getting boring. The big different was that ff11 would not update for say 3 months at a time and GW2 updates ever month some times sooner.
I have yet to get truly bored with this game i have a good guild with lots of different ppl to talk to and i find WvW one of the best gaming experience i have ever played. Just the amount of player made content from this part of the game alone makes GW2 worth playing for me for a very long time.
@ FLFW.3105 ’s tag
Really “Guild Wars 2 is worst pvp game i’ve ever seen in my 10 years of mmo experience.” I think a lot of ppl would disagree with you i am one of them please do not think you can just simply put any thing you want in these tags with out any type of black lash.

Well if you don’t want to, just use gw2lfg.com and find a party at the level you want. Having to keep u kitten till on your head. I have a guild of people, many of which are far ahead of me. I didn’t keep up.
But I still run the fractals relatively regularly…just not as often as they do. It’s still a choice.

No you don’t.
I have a character that I leveled from lvl 2 to lvl 80 in WvW.
I have never done anything other than WvW with him, so he clearly don’t have access to Ascended Gear.
Even so it is very possible for me to stay on par with others in WvW.
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that you can get access to all but one kind of Ascended gear released without ever doing a single Fractal run.
As soon as I read a post that says “I played 1400, 1500, 1600, et al, but now I’m bored!!!” I cease taking it seriously.

Surely for a single player game that is a lot, but an mmorpg? That’s not much at all…

It’s a lot in 6 months. Do the math. About eight hours a day, every day.

Nor am I, just saying I can’t take these posts seriously. I would get tired of doing anything I enjoyed if I did it everyday for months on end for eight hours. Even relations with the opposite sex would start to chafe, regardless of ointments.
I know, I just think people who came from other games who enjoyed years of excessive play, are disappointed that this game doesn’t fill that void. mmorpgs for a long time have been a life away from life and this game is a shocker once you “beat it” and no patch notes of the next big boss coming to end the world.
Honestly, if I knew this game was going to be this short, I’d have only played it 1 – 2 times a week.

I’ve played lots of MMORPGS. Most of them sucked for me. I didn’t enjoy them. I always saw the potential of the genre, but I never found a game that could hold my attention until now.
So while some of you who played and liked other games, and were satisfied by them, the same is true the other way. There are tons of people who played them and walked away unsatisfied.
If more MMOs were like Guild Wars 2, maybe they would have held my attention.
When I get bored with a game, as I have a couple of times while playing GW2, I just stop logging in for a while and play something else. Later, I come back to GW2 and start playing again. Not much has changed from where I left off, so I’m not missing anything.
GW2 was specifically designed to be played this way. I suggest playing something else for a week or two, maybe come back at the end of April to see what they have added to the Living Story or whatever.
stop playing….it’s as simple as that
OP I played for around a month straight at release, and at 80 i got bored and left… now I’m back and leveling a thief and having a blast all over again.
I tend to get bored with the game as well, but it is my own fault. I’ve played it to death so to speak. And what I would really find interesting: Living Story, Being a Guild Master, and other things are beyond my grasp. the reason is school and family. I’d have to devote a serious amount of time to actually being active instead of logging in killing stuff afk for a bit repeat lol. I probably play more than the average person, and this has made me a bit bored but again that is my fault. There is many other things I’d like to enjoy but just can’t right now. But this doesn’t mean at some other time I won’t dive into the content. 1125 Hours 3 months.

That’s what I had stated originally, people who are looking to fill a void that another game had fill for years will most likely be disappointed in GW2. GW2 isn’t designed to slow players down early on in the game to ensure the longevity created to keeping a subscriber, subscribed. You can quickly plow through the entire game, complete many things and be left with grinding and farming. The “whole game is endgame” feature is great to those players who don’t play excessive amounts of time, or see the game as completion steps: “This > That > This > Now what?”
I’ve played WoW an extreme amount of unhealthy hours for a very long time during vanilla, comparing the 2 games for what they are and not by design is the problem. Some games prolong play by slowing it down. GW2 sped it all up then later slowed it all down, perhaps not enough, depending on player style.
To be fair, ANet targeted both mmo players and non-mmo players, there is bound to be those who are alienated.
1600 hours?
Don’t burn yourself out, man. kitten Learn to play some other games in between or go do something else IRL. Honestly, as others have said, 1600 hours is a LOT! I feel like I play a ton and I only have ~400.

you leveled from 2 to 80 in wvw, you are a revive bot. You are easy to kill. He said to keep on par (aka be equal to his enemies) he has to get ascended gear (if they have ascended and he has exotics, he is at a disadvantage.) In the future please try to refrain from this behavior.

dude that’s an average of 12 hrs a day….. school = 15-35 hrs a week depending on level and the average person sleeps for eight hours…. so you play 12 hrs, sleep for eight hours and go to school for 4 hours… on average

Sound right. minus the sleep thing, closer to 6 hours.

For MMORPG’s 6 month is hardly any time. Games like WoW and EQ have people playing it for over 10 years.
