Getting HoM skins without playing GW1?
No there is not any plans to do that.
As far as I know, there are no plans for that. Also, I’d say that getting the HoM skins will take more than some hours, said by someone that played GW1 for a few months before GW2 release and only managed to get 6 points (just barely enough for the full armor skin set)
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I’ve never played GW1 and I think the skins are awesome too, but I really hope they don’t allow anybody else to get these. It was a wonderful gesture to GW1 players and it would be ruined if they opened the door for just anybody to get them.

I never played GW1 and the skins are cool and I really want them but they should be for people that played GW1 and earned them. That was the point of them in the first place. It would ruin them for the people that put the time in GW1.

Armor and weapon skins I can understand keeping exclusive, but I do hope that eventually the pets (and if there are other visible unobtainable slots) get released for the rest or removed from view.

If that ever happens, i hope that GW1 players will get other exclusives to replace it.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
It won’t happen because Anet used these skins to reward players, some of which worked very hard to get them. I know people who bought GW 1 before GW 2 came out just to get those skins. How do you think they’d feel if Anet allowed everyone else to get them?
Purely GW1 tips here:
- Every new account gives you 10 zaishen keys > 50k.
- An account can be as low as 5 euros in bargain bins. Buy tons.
- Most points are money based.
- Buy accounts, convert to zaishen keys. Move this money to main account.
If you want to go the pay2win route, you can easily get to 20 points by merely spending money.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
If anet wanted to they could put them in the store.
as for ppl saying they a reward for playing gw so what i bought many Pre-Purchase games with an included exclusive item only to go on sale a few months later as dlc.
So why can anet not do it,when other company’s do?
Also i have most of the hom items anyway, just saying if anet wanted to make a few bucks putting them in the store i would not be mad over it.
as most of the skins we use are much better at lvl 75-80 anyway.
You all had over 6 months of exclusive hom items,so if anet did put them in the store, then good for them as it’s extra cash to keep the game afloat.

Preorder bonuses are very different. GW1 players actually accomplished something to obtain these skins, they didn’t just preorder the game by such and such a date. Cosmetic rewards are an MMOs bread and butter, smart companies understand that you don’t let players earn a reward, then sell it to other players down the road. While technically two different games, Anet is treating Guild Wars as a continuing product and these cosmetic items are the trophies earned by their longest supporters, not just a preoder bonus.
How would you feel if you worked for 4 years to get a legendary, only to have Anet put it on the gem store for 400 gems 6 months after you completed it? It is very important that in game rewards are kept seperate from gem store purchases so they game stays Buy to Play instead of Pay to Win. The GW1 items are in game rewards, not gem store purchases.
Those skins will not be obtainable outside of GW1. I understand that it sucks to be excluded from these skins, but it is how it is. It would be a bad move if Anet decided to give it out to others.
never ! us GW1 player will rage if they are given outside the HoM…..
Archeage = Farmville with PK
HoM rewards weren’t just a bonus for GW1 players. They were a marketing decision that increased the player count and the time played. I know I played much more after they were introduced, since I had no reason to do any of the requirements previously.
They’re not going to give out the HoM rewards any time soon. Why would they, when people that really want them will buy and play GW1, further keeping the game alive. A few years after GW1 is shutdown though, they might sell them as a GW1 unlock pack, since they’ll probably go with the reasoning that people that already had them have gotten their exclusive use out of them, in the same way they started to give out old festival hats in GW1.
I think, to be fair, that the GW1 skins should always be unique and only for those who did play GW1 enough to earn them. I’m a little disappointed that there is a way to just buy them with a number of new accounts. And it isn’t so much that they were earned after it was known that there would be incentives in GW2. I LIKE that, in it’s true form, it was meant to be a ‘thank you’ to those of us who have followed the game for so long, played through both editions and can honestly say that this is the only way you can get these skins.
I hate exclusivity when it is luck or politics that draws the line between who gets and who don’t gets, but, like dungeon gear or achievement rewards, there should always be a unique way to say, “Hey, I did that!” Not, “Oh, where did you buy that?”
just get Nightfall and Eye of the North, make a Ranger (for getting a pet) and you’ll have the 3 skins you mentioned in no time, you only need 10 HOM points for them
3 points for linking accounts
2 for Eternal Hero of Elona (just finish the last mission in nightfall)
1 for any pet statue (why i said make a ranger)
1 for any hero statue
2 for 5 companion statues
1 for 10 companion statues
and they shouldn’t be available to non gw1 players.
Well, i want them to be exclusive to GW1 players for, i dunno, some years.
It did take me alot time, gold and effort to get them.
Making them available another way to soon, i wouldnt like.
(And, imo the HoM rewards were also a way of stimulating GW1 players to start playing GW2.)
Anet would have to completely lose their mind to do such a thing. Granted, some of their decisions lately make me think that’s not outside the realm of possible.
Guild Wars 1 is still fun. You can even play through it solo if you want to, it’s an actual RPG game with storyline as you’d see on a console one. More storyline/cutscenes than GW2 even.
Nobody should get to wield a fiery dragon sword without knowing who Prince Rurik is first
Rragar Ragehammer – Charr Warrior
Achilles Adrastos – Human Warrior
I barely played GW1, didn’t like it much, and I wouldn’t be okay with this. It’s a reward for being a long-time fan. It would be nice if they did add skins that fill a similar aesthetic, but not the exact same skins, that would be unfair.
wait, wait can we still play GW for the skins? i thought it was only for a certain time period or something?
i never played GW but was always curious, i played Myth of Soma and the like for ages (yeh yeh REAL old i know)
I doubt they will ever release those skins any other way. For one thing a lot of GW1 players would be upset. You might think it won’t matter if it’s months or years down the line but you have to bear in mind those skins are going to get more special (both in terms of non-GW1 players being impressed and in terms of sentimental value) over time.
For another thing as long as GW1 is running it’s in Anet’s interest to not offer the skins any other way. If/when it does shut down there will probably be more than enough other options in GW2 that they won’t feel the need to release those ones.

Yes you can still play GW1 and get the rewards.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Yes, you can still go back into GW and work on the HOM and thus get access to those skins. There is no time limit on that. (There was a time limit on reserving your GW1 character names to be used in GW2. )
I busted my butt to unlock 30/50 HoM — I’d be more than a little miffed if Anet made those skins, pets and minis available to everyone.
As it has already been stated, you can still earn those rewards. Just get GW1 and start playing. There’s even a handy guide for unlocking rewards in the HoM.

Considering you can still buy GW and work to obtain the HoM rewards, I doubt they will ever release them any other way. I am still working on my last 9 points (need 25 more mini-pets, vabby armor, obsidian armor, a tormented weapon, and my defender of ascalon (only 6 levels) title)

And why would they ban you for spending money buying multiple copies of their game?
Many GW1 players have multiple accounts. At the start, you could not purchase additional slots so many of us purchased additional accounts. Anet was aware of it and never had any issues at all. Trading between your accounts has also always been done. That’s how many of the GW1 players got so many mini pets so quickly.
As to the HOM rewards, it’s simple. They are supposed to be your legacy from your GW1 player characters. If you never played GW1 and have no player characters, how can you have a legacy?
scenario: 5 new accounts are created and the only activity they see is a one-time login followed by a transfer of goods to another account.
ie: exactly the kind of pattern that a bot-detection software is looking for

Your really stretching it a bit there. There is nothing about it that would set off any bot detection scripts as someone botting would have no reason to do that. Botters don’t purchase accounts for single one time use, they purchase them to bot. Just purchasing the account in the first place would cost more then the Z Keys could be sold for so they would have to be some kind of math idiot to even think of doing that.
Lets see, buy an account for $5.00, to get an item you can sell for $1.50, yup, makes sense to me, LOL!

The bot ecology uses accounts for many purposes, one of them is solely for moving gold/wealth around, they function as middlemen between the bot accounts and the gold seller accounts.
Also, account cost rarely figures in to the math given that they mostly purchase accounts using stolen credit cards.

I did all 50 points + the exclusive title God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals (30 max ranked titles in GW 1) and it took me 6 years. I did it without much help or use of Flavor of the Month (original meaning of FotM) builds. I would not be happy if it was gievn out to non gw 1 players or those that worked as hard as me (Yet, I have to deal with the latter as people can now just speed clear, Discord, or Zaishen Key their way to 30 or 50 points in the HoM).
I’m one of those, “We had to walk five miles in the snow when I was your age!” types when it comes to games.

“We had to walk 5 miles to get to the arcade. Up hill both ways, in the snow. To watch your cube fire rectangles at another cube until it turned into triangles and you got 1000 points. As we were grateful.”
(Actually that was before my time too. I should be saying something about having to load the tapes into the XZ Spectrum, or having to use the command line in DOS to load the game up and then read a vauge and useless description of each room because they hadn’t started putting graphics into RPGs yet.)
But anyway, I agree with the sentiment of your post. If you haven’t had to rush desperately after Rurik before he impales himself on the charr’s horns and pray the monk can keep your party alive in the process you don’t deserve a fiery dragon sword.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
That would be fair to us GW1 players who grinded our Hall of Monuments to unlock everything… I don’t know why people feel that they are entitled to something simply because they like it.

Go buy the game. It’s still live.
Nobody should get to wield a fiery dragon sword without knowing who Prince Rurik is first
or an icy dragon sword without knowing where they drop from in the Shiverpeaks.
This question seems to pop up every few weeks.
Short answer: No. 0% chance as stated by the devs.
