Now that karma has been changed how would I go about getting large amounts of karma? I need them for Obsidian Shards. Any suggestions?

I also need obi shards and have been running fractals. My mesmer is at fractal 11 and running a fractal 1 with a karma boost, banner boost, guild boost, and food boost gives me about 11.4k karma per set. That’s w/o the karma infusion on the amulet.

Activities. It takes about 3 minutes to do a sanctum sprint. If you come in 1st, that’s 1000 karma, else it’s 600. As soon as you get it, don’t wait, drop and requeue. That’s around 10k karma an hour at least.

But in this case, fractals is the way to go, since you can get the karma and shards at the same time.

An hour to get 10k Karma by repeaating the same boring activity. Do you know what that sounds like to me? Grind.

I know, you were only are giving an option to make Karma. It’s just annoying that they took the jugs away from the dailies/monthlies. (which I enjoy doing) Because for me, running around in a circle is not only not fun, but I don’t have the time nor will to do so.

Keep playing like you normally do and worry less about karma. You will accumulate is fast enough and by the time you have most of the other pieces you should have the karma you need for them.

That’s a tough sell.

I’ve been asking a lot of questions to people about this new rate of Karma. I have found one thing that is essentialy set in stone. We have two groups of people and those groups are cut and dry

1. The “I dont think the nerf is a big deal” group. These people have 1,000,000+ karma typically. They have been collecting karma for up to a year, and don’t spend it. Mysteriously, they have a surplus and don’t care about the nerf becuase they don’t use karma in the 1st place.

2. The “I have built a legendary and 6+ months of karma (old drop rate) barely cut it.” This is where me and my wife fell in. I got my legendary in July (been playing since release) and I RAN OUT of karma while trying to craft mystic clovers. So whats that, ~10 months worth of karma and my RNG was so bad that I actually had to grind out events to make up for more (i had to grind the monthly out also for the 10 jugs for shards)? I spent ~1+ million karma on my legendary, it might of been more. I lost track of it. All due to bad RNG at the forge.

Karma is way to hard to get right now, especially for endgame material. I couldn’t imagine a player buying the game today and having that endless grind for a legendary, it would be game breaking and for nothing.

I was going to buy some cultural weapon skins for my Syvalri. 30,000 karma each. NOPE. More content skipped because I know I can’t spare karma in the current scheme.

While I will admit I am definitely in group 1. My point was more about the people that are saying I need a lot of karma fast, but when someone suggests a repeatable method for getting decent amounts of karma those same people are like “That is grinding, I won’t do that”. Its basically “I want it, I want it now, and I don’t want to work for it”, and to me that is kinda ridiculous. Playing the game is supposed to be about fun, but there is also supposed to be a sense of achievement to it, so sadly there is absolutely no way to accomplish both of those for everyone, since some people seeing having to play for a while or grind to achieve something as not fun and want instant gratification. (This was a horrible run-on sentence, but its too much of a headache to figure out how bet to punctuate it properly, so I hope you understand it.)

If karma really becomes a limiting factor to getting a legendary my guess is ANet will change something.

events, and there are a ton of events in wvw

Most people to me mention wvw, fractals and events.
Went to do events, NOone anywhere doing events, everyone is only doing champ farm these days.
And Since my server has been doing worse and worse at wvw lately, im stuck with fractals, and having to start from the begining because I’ve never been that intrested it fractals.

On the plus side I find fractals quite fun, however this now being pretty much the only way to get karma.
I was working on legendary right before the nerf, got all my other things prepared and had 500k karma all ready.. Ended up spending all of it on clovers, now im left with 10k karma and every single other thing for my legendary.

It just seems to be that people that have 1m+ karma don’t give a rats kitten about the nerf, and nubs like me sitting here having nothing to do.

fractals at the beginning isn’t so bad. You just need to get to 12 and you can do lvl 2s

And you don’t need people to run events. There are tons of easy events at hotspots where events don’t stop like Zintyl holy grounds in sparkfly

Do fractals. not only you get good amount of karma but you also getting obi shards from relics if you want so you’ll get them twice as fast

Fractals should not take you long if you run low-level ones. If you’re that worried about time, pre-roll swamp.

Well I have 1m+ Karma, and I think this Karma nerf is way over the top.

I knew they would nerf Karma sooner or later, so I decided to stockpile it and restrain myself from not spending anything (and rather spend my WvW badges/Gold on Exotic armor/gear)

I’m on the good side, and have bought my Obsidian shards months and months (I think 5 months) before the nerf to Karma.

Have my condolences though

I would think Champion farming in either Queensdale or Frostgorge would be a good karma bank, since you get karma drops (like 120) from the chests. If you go to Queensdale, double karma since you have chance at getting Karma sips and the karma reward from the event (except spider). I don’t think Frostgorge champion train has events (except for Drake? or Quaggan?)

Ah champs no longer give karma, the nerf was pretty bad.. only possibilty for karma right now is fractals and wvw, which isn’t too bad.. Now I’ve gotten to lvl 14 even lvl 10 fractals give about 8k karma with boosts..
Use boost right before chests at jade sea then go wvw for an hour, repeat.. should get about 15-20k karma an hour.

You get lots of karma zerging around WvW and its fun…

I have 3 million+ atm and have spent 17 million+ already so they can nerf karma all they want…don’t care…

I said the same in another reply…sad sad choice, more grind, less fun!

Doing fractals 10 levels below your highest available level is the most efficient. Karma boosters (and infusion if you gots it) work!
