Lately I have been facing a little frustration with the game. This regarding to having many characters.

Anyone else get the feeling that you are somehow compelled to play, let’s say, all 8 of your characters but somehow feel like you want to start again with a brand new char because of how much of a time-vampire it becomes and everything sort of become loose and out of control so that it doesn’t live up to what you are playing for in the first place?

Now I have been thinking of getting a second account of GW2 and just having one character to play through all the content and not worry about any alternate characters.

What are your opinions and views on this and is it a normal feeling to have?

Prince Rurik and Lady Althea. Anyone else see the incompatibilty here?

My problem is that I’m such an altoholic, I’d make characters on all five of the other account’s slots, and be in the same position.

But I don’t feel pressured to play all my characters. I had a ton of characters in Guild Wars 1 too. You know how I decided which I played? RNG lol

I made a chart of all my characters and used my old D&D dice to decide who I would play. Get tired of playing one guy and roll another to play.

I’m not quite that far in Guild Wars 2 yet, but I can see the time coming.

On another note, having a second account, if you’re a really die-hard player, isn’t all that bad an idea. If nothing else, you can get more of something than you normally would. Like this year with the Christmas minis. You could get four of the mystic forge ones instead of two. Of course, they’d be on different accounts, but you get the idea.

You can also farm stuff on a second account and use it as a source for your first account. Hell just for the mat storage it might be worth something.

You could always just delete all your characters… and then use your other hand to make new ones with a little strange.

Just write a check for additional slots on the first account…one of my guildmates has 23 character slots on her account. It’s expensive in RL money to buy the gems to buy the slots, but given how much of the game is bind on account, it’s worth it.

Also a caution for you: not just ArenaNet but also the parent company support processes are tied to the email address, they cannot support a second account tied to the same email address, and we have had the support process get confused when there are two accounts in the same name.

Oh you just missed the sale. Well, weigh it if it’s worth more to buy 1 character slot for $10 or $60 to get 5 character slots + an extra bank.

In the UK it actually costs more to buy 5 more slots than it does to buy a whole new copy of GW2.

5 Slots = 4000 Gems = £42.50
New copy (5 slots) = Amazon £34.60/GAME £37.99 (but currently on sale for £27.99)/Play.com £36.00

Quite a bit more to pay for the perks for having stuff shared across the account and not having multiple emails to manage them. However, if you’re a real alt-aholic, and want to keep making those alts, you’re better off buying a new copy and of course prices from those other sites will continually depreciate as time passes (it commonly happens) and so you could end up getting a lot more for your money by waiting a few months then going and buying that extra copy. Either way, purchase is a purchase. It’s just up to you whether you want to pay more or less for the added benifits.

Why not just use gold to buy new character slots? I’ve got 9. All bought with gold.
