I won’t touch the game for days and I’ll come back and do stuff in it and I’ll find myself wondering why I’m doing this 20 minutes in. Cause its kinda boring…..

Idk if anyone else feels the same way. Rather than a place to vent, was hoping for solutions and new things to do in the game I may not have considered.

I’m a wvsw player. I do the pve story. I’ve done all the pre-hot map stuff, the hot map stuff ive done pieces of it all over……just don’t find it interesting enough to actually finish any of the maps though (just frustrating and overall dull exploration). I’ve done the ls3 new maps plenty of times over and they were fun for what they were. Ember bay has probaly been my favourite and ive spent the most time on…which is kind of weird since bloodstone fen has a much more interesting set of enemies and map. Yet Ember is funner to be on for a variety of reasons…

im a wwvsw player….done the pve stuff. done dungeons (i liked dungeons alot…dont feel the need to run them all a million times to unlock all achievements though, done it for arah though) done fractals up to 80 with like 0 AR…..I hate the concept of AR especially since im a wvsw player and I don’t have AR since wvsw infusions prevent you from having it…i shouldn’t have to buy the same armour set for each pve mode.
pvp i also never liked much…..its just a pve version of wvsw really…your focus is to stand in circles, rather than fight.

Raids? i don’t have fwieeeends. so i never really bothered since everyone i try to party with (be they mentor or pub squads) never actaully start the raid…..they just complain till the party disbands.

I enjoy trading on the TP and making gold by crafting and selling. THe prices though really dictate when and if I do this…..and everything is wayyyy down in price so not really any point since they r just gonna keep sinking.
Crafting, same thing. I mean its hard enough to do this stuff and not lose money on it as is.

I enjoyed farming the wintersday events for presents and selling them to buy a commander tag last christmas. that was fun in its own rewarding way. Was extremely disappointed wiht the difficulty of many of the events but…..whatever, carol of the bells was okayish at least and that was where the presents were at.

I try to run diff professions….just dont find them interesting though. Mainly just stick to my warrior….and my 2 main characters are both warriors lol.

I mean id like to be able to join a RP on the go if I felt like it. Haven’t really seen any though when i check the places its suppposed to be going on.

what to do……….

I don’t guess you’re into achievement farming? There’s lots of jumping puzzle, random things to discover, etc all over the world for achievement points. Probably only interesting if you’re actually into outfits though for either Radiant/Hellfire pieces. Also if you don’t have a legendary weapon you can always start that grind. Joining a farm guild for SW and making some friends there turns into more of an activity than a chore, for me at least.

You could make a guild, help new players out and show them the game. finish or start collections.. Maybe a legendary?

I’m pretty sure theres atleast one other class that you’d enjoy playing for me that
was druid but it really took me a long time befor i got the hang of it.. Lucky that i already loved base ranger so much that i sticked with it

Just do any activitie with friends, should be fun

If you are really finding it difficult to stay engaged and interested in the game, then my best recommendation would be to simply take a break. This might sound negative toward Guild Wars 2, but I don’t intend it to come across that way.

I’ve been playing GW2 almost daily since about a month after launch (I didn’t get in on the ground floor, unfortunately, so no baseball cap for me), and over the course of a four year period, it is completely natural to find yourself getting a bit burned out with a game you’ve been playing that entire time.

So, take a break! I don’t mean cut yourself out of the game completely, of course, but take a few steps back and start playing something else for a week or two. Log on to GW2 and get your daily, harvest your flax, do the quick daily things you typically do when you log on, and when you finish those things, sign off and do something else. After a while (probably after the release of a new content patch), you’ll come back to the game with “fresh eyes” so to speak, and you’ll likely find something you find interesting to do again.

This is the cycle I go through every six months or so and it generally works for me. I’m not suggesting you should stop playing the game entirely, just scale back your focus a little bit and distract yourself. I know you’ve said that you go days without playing and come back bored, so maybe this solution won’t really apply to you, I’m not sure. Hope this helps in some way and you do ultimately find your niche in Tyria.

Yeah, just take a break! It’s only natural to get bored of a game after a while, it happens later or sooner. One of the great things about GW2 is that when you come back, you won’t feel left behind, because your gear and your progression will always be relevant, and you’ll have just a little catch-up to do to be up to date.

Just be sure to warn your guildies, take some news, and maybe think about a long term goal that would motivate you, like crafting a new legendary, levelling a new toon, maybe buy a commander tag and trying to lead in WvW (if it’s not already the case)…

its normal, it happens to everyone with any type of game really. Taking breaks or simply trying out something completely different in game (i find it quite fun and challenging to make a new character with a race i dont rly play often and try to level it from 1-80 using only shiverpeak zones…with 0 deaths)

Personally i did try ESO and i have been playing it since the free steam weekend (a few weeks ago)
However…as much as refreshing and new experience i had with eso i got pretty bored and fed up with it as it quickly turned from new, fresh, exciting, interesting into veery repetitive, boring, always more of the same and just plain annoying…so i returned to GW2.

But thats just me, feel free to try eso or any other game. They are all quite different from GW2 and you will definently experience something new and fresh ..at least for a while

It’s normal to get bored. Especially within a genre that has past it’s peak. Perhaps switch genres instead of finding another mmorpg to play. If it is the potential interaction with other players that you like, then there are plenty of genres surging in popularity utilizing multplayer online technology.

@OP
I strongly encourage you to take an extended break. You could sit out Wintersday and come back when guildwars2.com announces the next chapter of the Living World (or start your break after Wintersday). Go see some movies, try different games, write a letter to your mom thanking her for Thanksgiving, read a book, pen a novel, whatever.

After your break, if you return, you’ll find one of two things: you’ll be impressed with how little you miss the game and how boring it remains (to you) or you’ll wonder why you ever thought it was dull; it’s very, very unlikely you’ll have no opinion.

It’s hard to get perspective while you’re still logging in and doing dailies. Give it up cold turkey for 6 weeks or 3 months and see what you think after.

Good luck, regardless of what you discover.

Hope you can find something, OP. Either with or outside GW2.

I’m kinda in the same boat. I’ve been branching out with console titles and personal projects, only logging on for dailies and touching base with the guild. I still <3 GW2, but I want to invest my time elsewhere.

After the holiday, I think I’ll set a few days to focus on it again, and save the other days for other projects. I still have a lot of goals to chase, so I know I have plenty to do, it’s just that with the way certain things are time-delayed, it doesn’t fit into my play time as neatly.

Many alts; handle it!

I mean I was here at the launch of the game back in 2012 or whatever…..and stopped at christmas time, and just came back last year a week before hot launched (without realizing there was an expansion about to launch lol). I didn’t buy hot till it went on sale 3 months ago during all that time. Felt alot of the magic of the game slip away when HoT came, and saw alot of it gone when i returned before hot came. I did a legendary in the spring, predator. If I liquidate all my assets I can probably barely afford to make 1 more. would bug me to sell all my stuff at these lower prices though haha.

I’ve been rolling back my gametime alot the past 1-2 weeks. I’ll start rolling it back some more then. Roll back my forum time too hehe. WIll be hard to just plain stop though, dont have much to do in my downtime atm and get frustrated learning new stuff. new games too i have a really hard time getting into. although i have personal projects ive been making significant progress in (working on script of a VN atm)

GW2 is much like Team Fortress 2 – if you leave for a few months and return, the only thing you’ll fall behind on is fashion.

Absolutely, it’s hard to stop playing something you played for so long, so often.

However, I’m very confident that you’ll be happier if you stop entirely for at least 6 weeks or so, rather than simply “cut down” your hours. Get some perspective and come back and see what you really like.

Speaking for myself, I hope you come back re-energized and re-inspired for GW2, although I know there’s a good chance you’ll end up realizing you really are ready to move on to new things. Better to find that out rather than grind yourself into frustration.

If you’re looking to start joining the RP community, I recommend joining guildwars2roleplayers.com – it’s a great place to start to find RP guilds that cater for how you want to RP your character (Criminal, Seraph, Mercenary etc.). It’s divided into Tarnished Coast/NA and Piken Square/EU RP guilds with character profiles and guild directors for recruiting.
