Noticed last night there were 12 of these shields on the tp and now there are 17 and the price is coming down. Where are they coming from as I have never seen this many on the tp before. Would they be worth getting since the price has come down 1k gold?

People are bringing them out of inventory, trying to get a good price before Halloween starts. There was a raffle last Halloween that included this skin. They are probably worried it will happen again and that prices will drop. And it’s a good time to sell it, since thematically it fits this time of year.

I’m wondering myself. The only plausible explanation that I have is that last year people couldn’t be bothered to come back to the game for some Halloween event. But now the HoT is coming and there has been a lot of people who just were not playing the game because they were bored of it.

Apparently the raffle last year only gave people account bound skins so in the end there was no real influence on the price of the skins on the TP. The prices came back up again real fast. THey can surprise us this year, but I would just expect the same thing. So it is possible that after people are 100% sure that there are no tradable Ghastly Shields coming back, they might buy up the stock real fast, because it is so cheap (I should know because I sold one for 5990g just a month ago….look at the laughable prices now).

One day there was a dude that had ungodly amount of shields to sell. He was selling to anyone who was willing to offer 2000+g for one, and back then the sell price was still above 4k. I think he had 10+ shields to sell, which is a really big number, I myself bought like 5 of them. So this also seems to show that people are really just finally coming back to the game after a long long break and selling their banks.

Weird thing is that the situation is not so crazy with the other Halloween skins. Why would people hold onto only the Ghastly Shields? It is all kinda weird, but maybe that one guy with 10+ shields to sell just had a really big impact on the market….once prices tank so fast, others will join out of fear. We’ll see I guess.

I don’t really know if this is a great time to sell your shield. You are selling now because you are really afraid or you really need a couple of thousand gold and you are willing to sell it at a big discount. The rule is sell high, buy low….now is the low point (I’m just sad that I don’t have any more money to buy some ). But then again who knows what this year’s Halloween is gonna bring.

i wouldn’t just yet.
i’m hoping Anet won’t make the mistake of rereleasing the 2012 skins,
but i wouldn’t put it past them.
so save your gold incase they make the mistake.
