Because of reasons, that’s why. In my 4k hours played time I had this dropped just once in Orr…less than BLTC keys. But I don’t have any use for those, so I don’t really care.

The new map rewards appear to be a great way to get Giant Eyes in the future. You may want to wait for that update instead of trying to get them now.

I have only 4 of them from drops. They’re pretty rare, but still nowhere near as path recipes from dungeons are.

You can buy them, right? That’s likely what you are supposed to do. It hurts because you’re supposed to just go buy them.

I’ve accumulated between 80-85k total Shards of Zhaitan, but it wasn’t until around ~65k until I got my first recipe from ANY of the four paths, which was the bloodstone fragment recipe.

They are rare as hell ^^

Some people are just luckier at this sort of thing. I’m only level 32 in Fractals (I keep on getting roped into helping yet more new players through a 1-9 run, and I can only really stomach one run per day + I’m a bit lazy), yet I have two Fractal Weapon skins. It’s all a roll of the dice.

The fractal weapon droprate isnt that bad. Its only a problem if you already have a bunch of them or want a specific skin.

There are some things in the game that I assume we have to just purchase. Some of those things are bought from vendors. But some will be on the TP.

I think that’s great: it means those with extra coin will be paying a premium to those that don’t care about skins and are lucky enough to see some giant eyes.

I got two Giant Eyes in about a week when doing the Melandru event at the second light beacon from the drakes who come ashore during that part. I was amazed since I have played since the game started and never saw any ever before…. Wiki says they can also drop from Mawdrey II or Heavy Moldy bag which I have never seen. Since then nada so not sure if that was an anomaly but I do try to tag those drakes now during that event to see if it ever repeats…

The drop rate is so low it’s ridiculous, and this really needs to be addressed because the end result is that Immobulus is basically uncraftable. Not only is there no hope of farming a significant number of eyes, they are in such short supply that even if you bought every single one off the trading post, you’d still be a long way from having enough to make that weapon.

Its not ‘basically uncraftable’. Its very expensive to craft. Misrepresenting that fact is the fastest way possible to get a Dev to ignore your concerns.

That certain items are very expensive is a situation that doesn’t concern ArenaNet in the least. The creation of such items are deliberate choices not accidents of design. So don’t think “but I want it” is going to be a compelling argument. You’re supposed to want it.

However, they are discussing adding specific map-based rewards cycles and my impression is Giant Eyes are under consideration as an automatic reward for playing in Orr maps at the appropriate time.

Use to get them from bags every now and then, people don’t farm CS like they use to so I guess they are in shorter supply. (This was back when LA was shutdown)

Although it really sucks to have some items like giant eyes be so unobtainable, at the same time I feel like its a cool feature to have the “rare, ‘mysterious’ crafting items” that giant eyes represent.

That being said, they should be at least as common as large skulls because they’re a similar rare crafting item that should drop from a specific racial creature (giant vs. grawl). Be nice to have more giants in the game as general.

They really should be standard drops off Eyes of Zhaitan, Risen Giants, and Giants.

I never could figure why they haven’t added more giants to the game. Like it would be any big deal if we could kill more than one giant in a given zone regularly.

Yeah its kind of a silly. There are plenty of high level mobs you could you add giant eyes too (undead and living giants, eyes of zhaitan). If this was a new issue you could call it an oversight but its clear that its become either a.) Anet is fine with how giant eyes currently are or b.) Anet hasn’t bother fixing the issue. Either way imo it reflects poorly on Anet.

Making Immobulus the price of a Legendary

there used to be two or three immobuluses on tp, now there is none for months. I whish i discovered it earlyer when giant eyes were 3 gold, now i can’t even buy a stack because there is no stack to buy off tp. Sad that you have better excess to ascended mats then rare ones.

Visible supply has NOTHING to do with actual supply in this game.

You start making attractive offers and they’ll come streaming out of the woodwork.

In nearly 6,000 hours of play, I’ve had a grand total of 0 drop. I made Immobulus last May, by purchasing every eye after a massive amount of dungeon farming. It took just under 2 weeks for the buy orders to fill.

It is VERY noticeable in the price when someone is making one. In a forum post, someone mentioned just making one a month or so before I made mine, so the supply went way down. The price went up around half a gold by the time I finished mine (check GW2Spidy’s graph from May 20-30). A few months later, someone else purchased a pile to make one, which made the price go up nearly a gold.

While the supply is extremely low, buy orders do slowly fill, so the item can be crafted, just not in any sort of reasonable time.

I made Immobulus a year and half ago (maybe 2), when giant eyes were 70s. Back to this time, there was a constant 300-400ish supply on TP. Yesterday, there were 151 giant eyes for the ridiculous price of 990 gold.
For me, Immobulus has always been my “legendary”. I’ve only seen 1 ele in 3 years using it, and it was a couple of months after launch when eyes were 2s each.

For the record, I got 2 giant eyes when I was farming gold for Immobulus. All from heavy moldy bags.
