This. Technically this means you could create a character solely to do map completion for the gifts (and money from hearts/mats/etc), then delete them, so as to have as many gifts as you want/need.
Which, if you’ve got the patience to gather the money/mats for 4 legendaries, could be considered part of gathering those mats.
Pet AI awful. Sword root+Aussie latency unmanagable. Lost playstyle, lost legendary, given up.

Eventually there will be legendary armor pieces as well – will they need the Gifts of Exploration too? If so, i see problems.

I am fully aware of this, but spending another 30-40 hours roughly probably longer, especially depending on WvW, just for another two gifts on a new character is something I would rather avoid. I see no reason why a 5-10 hour quest even couldn’t be added, so you main character is able to obtain as many of these as they would like.
The problem I see is, why is it mandatory for me to make an alt to get all legendary weapons for a single character? Are the other requirements honestly not enough?
What the game should do is once you get 100% completion it should give you the gifts and unlock them to be purchased from the skill point vendor.

I would be fine if Karma, Skill Point, Quest Given or any of the three. I would also consider it a viable option to get more from completing new content areas.
I just really dont want to level a second character through world completion, I plan on having multiple alts, and already do but my Engineer is my main and who I want to be dressed to the nines but cant do that without my other characters currently is just depressing.

You want the good stuff – you work for it, regardless whether that involves 3 characters getting 100% completion for the armour parts alone.
I see no problem…especially since the introduction of Ascended gear. Evidently it’s the way the game is going.
Ascended Gear is not the topic of discussion here, and secondly you dont need multiple characters for the current Ascended gear.
To completely gear a character in any other way does not require more than one character except for this.
