I have all the Job-o-Tron things! Back piece! Mini! Gathering tools! Character armor customization! I paid for the back piece gimme my corresponding glider like all the wing back pieces get!

Please Anet bring it back, it looks so good on my engineer. Too good.

I don’t think it was on sale yet. It just appeared in the gliders menu after one of the updates.

It hasn’t been released yet. ANet occasionally does “free advertising” by putting skins in preview before they’re released.

I like it. Especially being able to dye the fumes/exhaust/whatever that is! I’ll probably get one.

I sincerely hope Glide-r-Tron will have some “moral support” comments like his backpack counterpart :P

Is it confirmed that you can dye the fumes? Otherwise its just another partially cool item ruined by color schemes or abnormalities in the 3d modeling design.

I thought it looked rather weird, as the “boosters” don’t really mesh with the rest of the asuran style of technology

Well, you certainly can in the preview, just like with every other dyeable Glider.

Man, this panicked me for a moment. Yes, it hasn’t been released yet, but should be soon.

So this has been in the preview section of the glider skins for about two weeks now. Normally when a glider preview gets released, it comes out a few days later. Any news on when this is going to happen? This is the first glider I’ve seen that’s been a must have, and I’m more than ready to just throw money at it.

When it’s completely finished is my guess.

W/o a very good reason ANet probably wouldn’t withhold a brand new gemstore item… the best reason I can think is that they might do a [X]-r-tron themed gemstore period like they’re doing with the Quaggan stuff atm. The second-best reason I can think of is they found a big bug that needs squashing just before they were going to go live.

Having it in the preview just to drum up some hype for a long time doesn’t make much sense… a little while, maybe.

I do hope this thing doesn’t talk and if it does there better not be speech bubbles for it too. it’s bad enough with all the other annoy-o-trons

Job-o-tron/hero-tron items were released during living story. Maaaaaybe anet wants to release glide-r-tron on the 26th? I’m looking forward too. Also I would love a mini hero-tron

I’m looking forward to this more than any gem store item. I hope it talks, I have an Asuran warrior who has r-Tron everything and the stuff talking to me is the best part.

I am looking forward to Glide-R-Tron quite a bit, especially as it is dyeable. I discovered that when previewing it on various alts that have glider dyes set up. It looks like the metal gets one hue and the exhaust another, so those who sighed “it doesn’t match my character palette,” rejoice!

This glider color scheme was clearly based on my Asura Engie. It is too perfect for her. Thank you Anet. Now please just release it soon.

In regard to the subject, initially I heard rumours it was going to be released the first Tuesday of the month, then that turned out to be Quaggan Week, so you know, Anet stuff. It will release when it does

A friend in-game speculated that they possibly didn’t voice the Glide-r-Tron and then realized that everyone wanted it to have a voice, so now they’re having to go back, but again, that’s speculation.

As I stated the last time this item was brought up last week, or the week before, I may purchase it because it is dyeable. The exhaust takes to color very well.

I thought it would be released Tuesday, as the other items counted down to Tues at 9am PDT. But, I’ve been saving up Gems for the release of LW Season 3 because I thought there may be some cool things in the Gem Store, so I’m now guessing Glide-R-Tron will be one of said items. I can wait; I just hope there aren’t too many items I covet on offer. Lol.

Yup, that’s why I qualified my statement with ‘a little while.’ Letting us know this way is definitely smart, but hype is ephemeral and too much time will cause the excitement to fade.

Got it for my asura. Thankfully it’s not nearly as obnoxious as the backpack. The only thing I heard it say was a subdued “Whee!” once or twice.

I got that “whee” occasionally on deployment, and some chirruping sounds on strafing. Also Dulfy didn’t go in an updraft but there is a “spin up” sort of sound when you get carried rapidly upwards. All fairly subdued but well integrated with glider action.

I think the post was more like why do s/he have to pay for it when the wings owners dident have to on their gliders.

I got it right away and put it on Jaxxi, my asura engineer. I love it!

when I saw the glider-r-tron I was psyhed. Then I got it. And it does not talk…. This is really disappointing. I would have thought it would have been like the others of its kind saying stuff like: “Are we there yet?” or do some backseat gliding “We’re going the wrong way. This is heading to the mobs!” “Take a left here. No left, my left. error my right.” “We are falling…. slowly.” and other such things but it does not. Sad days. Can I get a refund if this is how it’s gonna be?

I feel your pain. Sadly lot of people found the other trons annoying and anet probably decided to make this one silent which doesn’t really make sense, ALL the r-trons talk. Such a shame, and ironic that lot of people are disappointed it doesn’t talk :/

I thought something was broke for the longest time, then I realized what it was and that it was intended… and it kinda made me regret purchasing it. Hopeful for a shut-up-o-tron toggle switch in the options one day.

I like the look of the glider though, pretty cool.

A little check box in the corner like head, shoulder, and back gear that toggles sound would be nice.

Just put a toggle on it. Don’t get rid of it completely. The voices were most of what made the trons unique.

The -tron dialogue reminds me of bumper snickers: they are funny the first time I read them, but I’d never willingly pay to see the same joke every day. “Target not sylvari” was hilarious on day one. On day 400, it’s water dripping on my forehead, a drop every 17 seconds.

I’m very happy the Glide-r-tron is voiceless — that’s a deal-breaker for me, without a skin-specific option to turn it off. IMO, they could have called it “Hovercraft” instead of Glide-r-tron, so it didn’t set people’s expectations for dialogue.

That said, I’m not buying it, much as I love the sounds and the dyeable exhaust — I can’t dye top|bottom of the solid components; I don’t like how the greenish paisley refuses to match with some of the more interesting exhaust possibilities.

add some xtra dialog like: prepare for emergency landing, danger danger stall alert, running out of fuel, up we go, etc.

This is kind of an example of posters not posting when they are satisfied.

Before we saw, mostly, only posts about too much chatter from ‘R-Tron’ items. Now that the current ‘R-Tron’ item doesn’t chat much, we see the opposite.

I guess the lesson is…players should post more when they are happy with content. =)

More OT: I’ve yet to purchase the Glide-R-Tron; I want it, but I’m considering waiting to see what’s offered in the Gem Store with the upcoming patch.

Again, I get that some people feel the Robos are rather mouthy. But for others . . . its part of his charm. And if you don’t like it, don’t buy or use him. I wish he was mouthier. A lot more.

And I hope ANet takes some of the suggestion listed and add more to his dialogue for the glider.

That would work if you could silence others mini/tool backpack noices without playing a mute game.

I wouldn’t mind a lifesize ‘mini’ following me around, or at least a slightly larger (and undecorated version) as Hoho-Tron is just too small.
