Give in-game voice chat for commanders only
I’ve always believed this game should have an in-game voice chat the way LOTRO does. It would make everything much more convenient and simpler since everyone uses different outside voice chat systems.
I’m tired of always having to download yet another system because the group I’m in doesn’t have any of the ones I’ve already got downloaded.
Should have been in the game at launch to facilitate all their big group events and metas.
Don’t see why not but i def wont ever join a squad do to them i heard 15-60 year old men brake down and act like a 4 year old in a store when his mommy tells him he can’t have that candy. also why i quit most games with raiding as end game content .. Looking at you gw2.. you might be next
I also think this should be a thing. But as an option. Players who are not interested can mute a commander or simply disable the whole thing.
Why would you want to mute a commander? If you’re in his squad, the whole point is to follow his directions. If you’re not in his squad, you wouldn’t even hear him.(I think this is what the OP means, anyway.)

This will make meta event as well as raids easier for PUGs when TS is not always available. Also people will have more incentive to purchase the commander title. What do you guys think about this event?
Edit: Whenever I’m in their squad and they have the tag on, of course.
Simple question: would it make it simpler for PUGs if it means you need to be in the squad?
Ehmry Bay Guardian
It wouldn’t be used as much as you think.
A lot of good commanders need to know when certain things are coming up.
Fire/Water fields, timewarps.
Also certain things lets take raids for example require co-ordinations and possitioning.
One person can’t always see everything, thats why having few people speaking is essential.
So I don’t see the reason why ANet should add something if we’d still have to use different stuff,
A
Edit: Even ANet said it:
Raids aren’t designed for PuGs

Don’t know what LoTRO servers you played on but I never saw anyone using it in the years when voice chat mattered, everyone used TS or Vent or maybe Mumble, not least because Turbine’s voice chat was pretty basic and un-configurable.
As for the OP’s suggestion, if you REALLY are experienced with voice you’d know it’s a TWO WAY DIALOGUE, where people are given instructions and CAN ASK QUESTIONS OR DISCUSS THINGS.
What you’re asking for is a one-way monologue of commands. No thanks!

I’ve been playing LOTRO for 7 years and I almost never see anyone using anything else. The in-game chat is very widely used and always has been.
