Give legendary weapons also free sigil change
Because sigils aren’t as big a part of your build as runes are /s
Hopefully this does get added to weapons though. Would be really nice, and now we know that Anet has the capabilities of doing it.
I would rather see this functionality added to all armor and weapons of exotic tier and above.

we need finally ascended upgrade effect account unlocks (this includes naturally sigils) as a door opener change so that the game can finally receive together with this improvement of the game a BUILD TEMPLATE SYSTEM, which requires that all upgrades need to receive a state, in which they are accountbound so that the BTS can work together with legendary equipment to be able to exchange absolutely everythign quicly out of combat as you like just with a very few clicks to decide, which “Build” your legendary equipment should have for the moment.
thats not somethign that will ever work, if there are any ele,ments in the game, that are still for BIS equipment characterbound, while mostly everythign else is already accountbound, except upgrades!!!
I would have to agree with Ragnarox. If this applies to legendary armor it should apply to legendary weapons as well being on the same gear tier and taking similar amount of effort to attain. Now whether it would even be possible since legendary weapon coding has been in game for months/years is another thing. it may not even be possible without a lot of work on ANs at which it just wouldnt be worth it.
While I do want the sigil changes, I’m not in a hurry for it. It’s not like I have more than 1 legendary weapon anyway

I’d argue that it would be several orders of magnitude MORE worth it since Legendary Weapons are available to all players while Legendary Armor is available to 5-10% who raid.
Some sigils are more expensive than 6x runes….This should be same for all cause of legendary status, or some legendaries are better than others than they need to be renamed to exclussive legendaries!

While absolutely true that no one has the armor yet and yet there are tens of thousands of weapons are out in tyria. I would support making the change, however I am not a programmer so do not know how much effort or time it would take to do it.

Legendary armor isn’t in the game as of today. There are still 3 blogging days left to find out if sigils will get the same treatment Tuesday, with Episode 6, soon™, or sometime down the road.

I hadnt thought of that, but youre correct. It would be a huge gain to have each of the slayer sigils to swap out in between dungeon runs rather than having 1 weapon for each or not bothering at all. Good call.

I disagree. It also takes up space for you to make additional weapons because of this limitation, which nihilates the purpose of Legendary Weapons completely IMO (and in others’ too).
As a mesmer I agree. Swapping Sigil of Concentration is needed.

I, too, would like to see this same upgrade swap functionality added to Legendary Weapons. I recently completed my second legendary weapon just a week ago and would love to be able to swap sigils on them much more often.
Sigil of Strength is great for WvW roaming, but it’s pretty useless in raids. Howler is great in both for Necro, however.
Agreed. I would also argue for it on ascended armor. This kind of functionality shouldn’t be reserved solely for the small group that raids. It has application gamewide.
I still much prefer the suggestion mentioned in another thread of “feeding” sigils and runes to the legendary gear, after which you can select them just as you would the stats. It stops the completely ancillary inventory management from carrying around 10-15 sigils (for no real reason). It’s a much more streamlined and professional approach.

I support this, if only because I always favour having consistency among gear of the same tier. Overall though, I think that giving Legendary gear this sort of functionality (along with the ability to stat swap) clearly elevates it as a T7 above Ascended gear. This could be a very dangerous road to go down for ANet because it risks making the problems of elitism and “meta or GTFO” even worse.

It really wont because legendary armor doesnt give you the upper hand in any fight nor you perform better with it. Its just convenience. Meta has nothing to do with the armor btw and it will never be meta it self.

Technically, yes, but you’re forgetting that now that you can freely stat swap and upgrade/infusion swap with Legendary armor, this essentially future proofs you for any and all expansions ANet will ever release for GW2. Why waste your time and money (not to mention precious inventory/bank space storing it all) making several sets of Ascended gear for various activities in the game when you can just go straight for Legendary armor and get the same thing? And you’ll forever be protected should balance changes or new stat introductions suddenly make your favourite gear fall out of favour.
THAT’S why it’s beyond convenience, and why I’m now classifying Legendary gear as T7.
Idk maybe because legendary armor is god awfully expensive and time gated? And maybe getting an asc set or even stat swaping one of the countless you have aquired over the years is far easier less time consuming and cheaper? Its not a higher tier its you going that long as further step because you dont like to have 3 or so armor sets in your bags ( which could stop being the case if buildtemplates were to be anounced in the next expax). Again tho, convenience will NEVER make an item a must or a flat out pwer increase over asc armor.

If I had to guess, it’s because the same person who hacked in the rune thing on armor doesn’t want to go through ~25 other items and do the same manual hack/fix to make them work.
Because knowing very little about this engine but being here for 4,5 years, I suspect this was done via a custom piece of assembler code which overwrites part of the server’s memory specific times. That’d be the level of hack I’m imagining here :P

You’re welcome to do that for yourself — that’s a good way to decide if it’s worth the investment for you. However, that convenience is of zero value to tons of other people who hardly ever swap builds. So in terms of the game, legendary gear is going to remain equal in power to ascended.
Legendary gear was already T7, regardless of whether it has more stats or more convenience.
To some people ascended gear doesn’t create much of a difference with exotic gear. Or white, blue and green gear is just the same salvage trash tier.
But if you go by color coding, then legendary has its own color thus is a different tier since forever.

Well that’d be an unnecessarily complex way of doing anything. It’s more likely that the function for replacing a rune now checks if the armour is legendary and if it is legendary it then generates an instance of the existing rune and places it in the players inventory in pretty much the same way as if the player had just looted it.
Or, even simpler, they just treat it as if you had used an upgrade extractor. The functionality already exists to extract the runes, so that part wouldn’t need to be hacked. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was as simple as just making leg armor act as if you had used an upgrade extractor when you try to put a new rune in, and then lets you slot the rune in
Yeah, it’s not complex new functionality, it’s just being applied automatically now. I have a feeling that it makes a copy of the item, that the rune in a piece of armour is treated differently to a rune in your inventory.
