There’s a lot of skins you can only get by doing PvE already. Let us PvPers have some too…

Ideally we want something that is:

1. Definitively earnable, not through RNG
2. Not a reskin
3. Likely has nothing to do with Tequatl

Fair enough. I knew that unless you were familiar with games like D&D 3.5, the concept of a challenge rating might go over your head. To address the arguments that you’ve stated:

1) There are exactly two challenging forms of PvE content at the moment. Teq and Triple Trouble. Even those have to be taken with a grain of salt, because while they do require coordination, any shmuck who show’s up to the map early enough can simply join in with the actual organized players and ride their coattails to the reward while putting in minimal to no effort. This is not the case with PvP, where if even one person doesn’t pull their wait, the whole team will suffer for it.

2) Self-imposed rules do not make the challenge harder. The challenge stays the same regardless, all you’ve done is purposely lower your chances of succeeding at said challenge. If you go to the local fair and decide to play that game where you have to knock over those three bottles with a softball to win a bear, all you have to do is knock over those three bottles. It’s not like you’re going to win a better prize or anything for managing to do it with your eyes closed.

No worries, I have no trouble understanding the concept of giving arbitrary values to various things. If you want to separate a part of a challenge and give it a number, feel free to do that.

1) If that’s what you consider challenging then you have no idea what you are talking about. Unfortunately not much point to discuss any further until you get more knowledge about the PvE content.

2) Self-imposed rules create a new challenge. Original challenge (without that rule) obviously stays same. There are no strict rule sets how the game should be played. You are free to play it as you want and create your own challenges.

As I have stated above, reward is not same thing as content. Content still exists even if it doesn’t give any rewards. If you are good with throwing softballs, don’t really care about the beer and want to challenge yourself then you can try it eyes closed.

Similarly, if you want to challenge yourself in the game you have plenty of options, even in the PvE. Only proper rewards are lacking which is what this topic is kind of trying to address.

That has nothing to do with game mode and everything to do with scale. You could say the same thing for Teq/Triple Trouble vs. dungeons/fractals or zerg battles in WvW vs. team fights in sPvP. Individual contribution means less and less as fights scale up regardless of what content you’re playing.

Also the only challenge involved in Teq/Triple Trouble is the logistical challenge of organizing 100+ players in an open world environment. There’s nothing remotely challenging about the mechanics in those fights. The first time I did Teq I was just as effective as the last time I did it. The only PvE encounters in this game that really press my knowledge of both the content and my class on a consistent basis are Imbued Grawl Shaman and Lupi.

To get back on topic though, I’d love to see a 2nd set of ascended dungeon armors/weapons released for the really dedicated dungeon runners (maybe even just throw on some cheap particle effects to the existing stuff like they did with the TA Aether weapons).

There is always a correct sequence of input to do anything in pve, so it could be done by a bot if such things were allowed. Anything a bot could do is automatically not skill.

A bot can do practically anything…art, math, finance, precision manufacturing, etc.

I mean…what can’t a bot do.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Suck it up and play the other third (extrapolation here I know) of the game.

You’ll only get better at the game as a whole for doing so.

Exclusive PvE’ers don’t deserve extra treatment on top of what exclusives you already have; the PvP community has gotten diddly-squat. Even in the sad state that it is in, PvP is the only actual demonstration of any level of player skill (yes we’re all aware that this is arguable but the general basis still stands); the solution? Play PvP and get better. You won’t regret it whatsoever and that’s a promise.

I assume some people are scared of their self-assumed skill at the game being disproved, but it’s happened to all PvP’ers at some point and it’s only done us good.

That being said I play both PvP and PvE in equal amounts (with my heart closest to PvP of course).

People like you need to stop making this pvp vs pve. It’s not a competition. Why can’t pve have an exclusive armor set? All the reasoning pvpers are giving is that pvp deserves it more. What the heck? Why does that matter?

No one thinks pvp shouldn’t have exclusive armor. No one. But this whole “I’m a pvper we get nothing!” Which isn’t true (WvW gets nothing and I’m not even biased, I only pve and I can see how little they get) should not be the reason pve doesn’t get a grind exclusive armor we can work on. I mean… why is this about pvp versus pve? Why are we fighting? That’s so stupid.

It is sad to see how many people actually missed the point and tried to turn this in to a fight between PVE and PVP and what game mode deserves more. This was never the issue. The fact that you don’t find PVE challenging, does not give you any right to devaluate people’s efforts there nor to dictate what rewards they deserve.

We get it that PVP has been neglected for a long time, but this doesn’t mean that PVE should get less prestigious content, just to make things balanced.

  • We asked why when Anet finally introduced a prestigious armor set, they made it available only via the least popular game mode and accessible to a handful of people?
  • Why they couldn’t simultaneosly introduce similar sets to PVE and WVW?
  • We also gave countless examples of how any PVE armor skin, can be obtained via PVP. Even the ascended ones.
  • We also suggested possible ways of acquiring said set and Fractals was the most common solution, simply because it is the only part of PVE that does not have its own armor set.

Now, can someone please explain to me, why is it so difficult to support an idea what will give the majority of the players something to work for? That instead of farming for the 5th offhand ledengary on their 3rd alt, people can focus on something new, and gather materials for a prestigious armor set.
