Some people invested their whole money in ascended gear and now Anet is nerfing gear of people who have chosen zerker stats, they should give a reset option like with MF gear, what do you think?

Agreed. Is it going to change how you play the game if you were to retrait? An Ascended GS already does 5% more damage than an Exotic…

Plus the new traits are coming…I was on the dev live stream an hour ago…they announced good stuff coming for all professions, especially Warrior. Your zerker Warrior isn’t suddenly useless.

And what about assassin’s gear? They are only changing crit damage, and assassins is zerk that traded power for high crit chance/crit damage…thus mine is about to take an even harder nerf than your zerk…just because they see people gripe about zerk all the time, so as yet, they have officially ignored all questions regarding gear like mine… If anyone needs a select-a-stat option, its going to be people like me who built an entire ascended armor set (and the laurels, and the mats) and are looking down the barrel of more than just some 10% nerf.

I would like a stat change offered for all Crit Damage armors as well, I have divine trinkets on several of my characters from before the MF change.. As for zerker, I would consider changing it, but I’m not sure to what. Perhaps take advantage of the stacking condition sigils and snag Power/prec/c.dam (does c.dam affect the proc?)

Because it doesn’t given vit or tougness, and now that it does less dmg, and people cannot kill as fast, some people may want to pick up some pieces with more defense.

If you changed to Cleric you’d be asking for a change again before a week.

Zerker is still gonna give the highest possible damage output.
If all of a sudden you wanna change to Cleric you can run AC and alike and get exotic Cleric gear.

I hate the attitude, but this is correct, toughness, vitality, healing etc defensive stats, no matter what the nerf to damage actually works out to be will NEVER be enough to undo the entire play system they have built upon for 1.5 years now… You do not get enough return on any of the defensive stats to make up for killing slower, in fact the damage from the individual and the group running defense stats can easily make a fight take twice as long as it should, which means twice the number of invulnerable phases for the boss, twice the number of chances at catching a 1-shot that no armor in the game can protect against anyway… The only way to make them viable would have to be making them have effect on otherwise 1-shot abilities… CoE Alpha’s red rings of death, pretty much every move Lupi does, the crusher’s one-ton smash, adelburn’s foefire, priest of grenth’s “WHOA IMMA TELE YOU OVER THERE”, the gears from the aetherblade path’s clockheart… when toughness etc can answer to these moves, then it becomes viable. Until then, kill it quicker because no amount of defensive armor is going to buy you enough time.

Step back and take a look at what is really going to be changed here which is Crit Damage which means refers to ALL stats combo with Crit Damage and not just berserker’s. People who have opted to go with Cavalier’s, Valkyrie’s and the like will feel that the initial trade offs in offense in comparison to Berserker’s or the trade offs in defense in comparison to Knight’s or Soldier’s is no longer worth it.

Please look at the situation whole fully by considering all gear affected and not just Berserker’s and all game modes that uses PvE gear, that is both PvE and WvW.

This whole thing seems a little backwards to me. Instead of making the other gear better to get it on par with Berserker, they’re just trying to knock Berserker down to the same level as the rest and failing at it. Like @Inimicus said, as long as bosses can one shot you regardless of defense, who will want it? THAT is the real problem, not Berserker stats.

You’re not helping when you post things like that. That figure means nothing to people and your conclusion shows nothing supporting it.

That thread on reddit does the calculations on what celestial is expected to look like after this change. Crit damage takes a big hit but with the boost in power, precision and condition damage, but the effective power of celestial gear actually gets slightly buffed (before you factor in the benefits of the bonus defensive stats).

If you properly utilised the stats on celestial gear (which is the whole point of the set – it’s a hybrid stat) you are likely walking away from this with better armour than before the change.

I understand the desire for an option to abandon berserker gear – for some people, the reason for berserker wasn’t only that it was BiS but because it was BiS and ahead of the pack by a significant margin. This change reduces how much better the gear is, for some of the people who bought it, the added effort of playing with berserker gear (which will be different based on content, player skill and party skill – a lot of times it’s less effort) required a strong incentive to push them over the line to make that decision to abandon more defensive options. Regardless of whether or not BiS is still berserker (it is because there is no alternative and the content didn’t change) the line has changed. For some people, that line matters. They might prefer a celestial or knights build now because berserker isn’t as “OP” as it once was.

I doubt you will get it. Unlike magic find, berserker will still exist after this patch. Berserker is also still BiS so it’s role hasn’t changed. There may be some builds which might trade individual slots for other options, but overall it’s a very different situation from eliminating a stat.

Toughness and Vitality don’t give you any real benefit. This has been discussed so many times and backed up with hard numbers, yet people still don’t get why zerk gear is the best. Adding a couple pieces of armor with tough/vit to increase your health pool by 6% won’t help when mobs/bosses hit you once for 25% more health than you have. Your downed either way.

Mind you, they don’t have the sense to just say something so i can start planning/rebuilding…nope, they gotta keep quiet so that people who get screwed the hardest are forced to fall behind while we pick up the pieces of their bad decisions…again

10% crit dmg nerf is not enough to make me wanna swap to defense or any other subpar gear set.

That 10% crit dmg loss can be covered with consumables, so zerker will still be meta until a whole lot more changes are made to make it necessary or desirable to take someone in clerics, condi or defensive gear.

I don’t like the crit dmg nerf, but I think the sigil changes should make up for some of the lost DPS (and more effects are good…), so I don’t really care that much now.

That’s what people are failing to see in the whole “zerk is bad” argument… the defensive stats they cling to are not actually helping them, because those stats are not powerful enough to stop the things that will 1-shot anyone, anway. So the whole damage nerf here is only going to make things worse in the short and long term for the players and arenanet. The conversion idea is whatever, but hitting a damage stat at the same time is taking too far and doing it without nearly enough apparent consideration to why people get elitist and perform gear checks.

Unless I’m mistaken and missing something, most of the negative impact to Berserker gear will be to trinkets. If crit damage is being changed to Ferocity where it matches the value for the Precision stat, Berserker ascended armor will net a mere total loss of only 20 stat points (with the stat value for crit damage is x% x 15) across a set of 6 armor pieces, with four armor pieces losing a total of 25 stat points, and 2 armor pieces (helmet and chest) actually gaining a total of 5 stat points. Most of the stat point loss will be to trinkets where ascended Berserker trinkets will effectively lose a total of 284 stat points. (I guess that’s why Berserker trinkets may be more effective for the crit damage bonus than armor pieces.)

On the weapon side, Berserker ascended 2H will effectively lose 16 stat points and ascended 1H will lose 8 stat points. For the costly crafted ascended Berserker armor and weapons, it doesn’t seem to be that big a hit.

There’s a stronger argument to change stat sets on the Berserker trinkets, most of which aren’t crafted. (The situation is different for Celestial gear which has a better argument to change stat sets in general where the 6% bonus is much less than the stat loss that’s expected to be applied to crit damage/Ferocity with respect to Celestial gear across the board.)

The meta used to be full zerk trinkets, zerk weapons and half assassin’s half zerk armor (all ascended ofc, for exotic it’s full berserker on most classes). Now we’ll probably have to replace those few assassin’s pieces with more berserker.

To answer your question, if the crit dmg nerf hits assassins as hard as berserker it will most likely become useless and make full berserker gear the only option. So yeah, I wouldn’t pick another stats, it’s still the best.

With the reduction of crit damage on ALL sets, get less precision for power will be better? Your crit damage will get lower, so your build solution is to crit less often but with a bit higher power base … your build is kinda odd.
