Giver's Armor, reminds me of the old MF armor
The problem is that the boon duration bonus is too small.
You give up 224 points of attributes for 6% boon duration.
Seeing how the traits value 100 points of attributes equal to 10% boon duration, you should get 22% boon duration on a complete armor set.
I would love to see boon duration as an attribute in more stat combinations, but only with real numbers rather than this 1% crap.
The problem with the MF in gear is that people with it would get better rewards but since they give up 1 of their stats they contribute less in the fight, so it wasn’t fair, that is why it was removed from all gears.
The givers stats follows the game standard so there is nothing to change here.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
MF stats had no meaningful value on the armor.
Boon Duration also has no meaningful value on the armor.
In fact, there should be only one set of armor that will allow changing of attributes instead of creating a mess with so many different armors differentiated by attributes. GW2 needs to go back to it GW1 roots and focus on kitten that is important rather than to find ways to add mini-grinds to keep people occupied.
This is how tPvP is set up and there should be no real reason for it to be any different in PvE. I understand it affects Rune market but, how many runes people actually buy and replace in an armor piece on a regular basis? Or for that matter,. is there any need to?
How does Boon Duration have no meaningful value?
That extra seconds of protection, fury, might, regen and so on can help for sure, it may be less useful than other stats, that I totally agree, but compared to MF that actually have no value at all for a fight, boon duration does have a meaning.
I also agree that we should be able to get the gear we want and then change the Insignia/Inscription when you want.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
No one should ever use Giver’s armor in its current state. The boon duration is simply too low to even consider, even if you actually want boon duration. 6% is paltry.
If you want to sacrifice stats for Boon Duration, its better to sacrifice stats elsewhere, like Boon Duration food / utilities or even Platinum Doubloons in place of jewelry upgrades (although that sadly doesn’t work for Ascended stuff). Those give you much more “bang for the buck” so to speak.
If its actually meant to be a serious stat combo, they need to give it a serious looking at. Though I don’t really have much hope for that at this point, its been 2 years like this and they haven’t done anything to improve it.
Platinum Doubloons in trinkets also gives up more stats.
In a weapon there’s a bit less loss but you can only put one in 2h weapons. Tested and one in a main hand and another in a focus and they counted for Attribute stats.
When looking at Givers armor, it make me compare it to Givers Weapons, each hand gives 10% to Condi duration. I don’t know exact stat balancing for weapon vs armor slots, but it doesn’t make sense to me that you can have:
Condi duration of 30% in a trait line
Boon duration of 30% in a trait line
Condi duration of 10% in an item slot
Boon duration of 1% in an item slot… 1/10th!!!
That is just way in off base, imo.
If Giver’s was changed to 2% on the base slot we would have, 6 * 2 + 5 * 2 = 22%.
6 armor slots with 5 trinkets. With 1% upgrades to the trinkets it would be 27%.
Have not seen a Giver’s back item, has anyone? Using a generic one with a Platinum Doubloon for the 4% on my Guard.
Actually Doubloons are odd.
Currently Copper lvl0 has 1%, Silver lvl20 has 2%, Gold lvl 35 has 3%, and Platinum lvl50 has 4%. Where are the higher versions? To continue the trend Mithril lvl65 would have 5%, and Orichalcum lvl 80 should be at 6%.
Haha, boon duration is being taken off trait points.
Wonder how this will all be in 6 months or when the core changes hit and if HoT will affect it at all.
