Guild Wars 2

Hi! My friends recently bought GW2 on my recommendation, and I would love to be able to gift them LS2 for when they hit 80 – I think it’s a bit steep to ask them to pay another chunk ontop of what they’ve just paid. Especially when they’re also going to have to buy the expansion soon. However I would love for them to be able to play through and get the rewards from LS2, and perhaps try to get some of the achievements. My solution is to buy it for them

However LS2 is not ‘giftable’. Would this be a possibility in the future?

I am in the same situation that you are in. A friend of mine is absolutely in love with the story of GW2 but between just buying the game and now needing to buy the expansion… I have more gems than I know what to do with, I would greatly appreciate being able to gift the story but I understand the technical limitations, the story’s price varies based on how much you already have unlocked.

Why don’t you just gift gems ?

Partly because it’s less personal and partly because if you have the gems already, you can’t gift those (afaik)

Same reason I would almost never give a voucher for someones birthday/Christmas

How do you determine what to pay for the gifted Living Story? Do you ask the person the gift is for to look on the Gem Store and see what their cost is, and then send you the information? What does the Gem Store have on offer? Eight different versions of the Living Story, and you must choose the right one to gift? Does the Gem Store only offer the full-cost 8 Episode package, so no one can gift to someone who needs less, or if they do need less, you must pay full price for the gift, anyway?

It may not be as cut-and-dried as first thought.

The easiest solution would be the full package, which then unlocks all or some of the chapters. Sure you could end up buying more than needed which is something the gifter would accept, but in theory, most ppl gifting would be buying for newer players anyway.

Well, as long as there wouldn’t be any cries of “I don’t want to pay for something I don’t need”, or “New players are being catered to”, then a single option would be fine.

And what if he has the gems but doesn’t have the gold?And what if he doesn’t want to convert gems to gold?

Glad to see other people are interested in this as an option too I would be happy to pay the full (but slightly discounted, I think?) amount for the bundle of all episodes. The people I want to buy it for are those who didn’t even have the game when LS2 was on. I imagine those who have a few parts already unlocked are those who could have logged on at the time and weren’t interested, or have already bought some parts and can decide for themselves if they want to invest further.

I hope this manages to make it into the game!
