They where never available as armorskins, only as townclothes. Townclothes have been replaced by outfits, which cover the entire body (head-item can be hidden).

If using medium armor, you could get the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eagle-Eye_Goggles
to unlock it in your wardrobe, create an engineer in a free character slot (not beta!) and choose the goggles. Once unlocked you can delete the character again to use the slot for other purposes.

Reading glasses were on the gem store in the style tab for a looooong time. Guess they were removed few months ago when anet deleted a bunch of old skins from the gem store,

Why delete it in the store, isn’t the store meant to earn money?
I find it a bit strange other games have a full ingame store while Anet keeps his store empty

multiple threads on that topic – it’s called artificial scarcity

If things are always there, you think “wow, that’s cool, i’ll have to get that sometime”… and then never actually get around to it.

If that something is there for only a small window, everyone who wants that item knows they have to have it NOW NOW NOW or they’ll miss out for… however long. Perhaps forever.

The downsides are:
-with the first model you do get SOME ambient sales and over a long enough time they could outweigh the sudden mass buy of the second model
-People who otherwise would buy the item may not be able to buy it in the extremely limited window of the second model, leading to lost sales

It’s all just a balancing act.

They really should do more with sales instead of removing items, the ingame store could be so much more.

My eyeglasses and bunny ears converted to armor skins. All I have left of the town clothes I purchased. I tossed the useless tonics.

What Mercury meant is that the Reading Glasses were never sold as an armor skin; they were only sold as town clothes. So this isn’t a case of artificially scarcity — it’s a case of ANet (for unknown reasons) not offering a gem shop unlock for the wardrobe.

I speculate that there must be some obscure technical reason, otherwise why haven’t they already done it? It would (a) be some easy money and (b) be a big win in terms of customer service (zomg, they brought back Reading Glasses|Bunny Ears|…).

My aviator sunglasses and reading glasses that I use as armor all the time say that yes, they are skins.

I did buy the aviator cap in the last year? six months? So they aren’t like bunny ears, reading or hipster glasses.

They are armor skins – if you convert them via a black lion armorer. They were never available as armor skins in the gem store.

OP just keep an eye out on the sales. I have 3 of the glasses that they released, just hoping to nab the other two during the sale.
