i LOVE gliding… it’s an awesome addition to the game….
BUT…… when trying to do jumping puzzles (such as Morgan’s Spiral), and it’s not turned off for one i’m working on, it’s really frustrating…. a player being able to turn gliding on and off would be UHMAYZING!!! is that something that would be considered for a future update/release??
I agree it can be frustrating and a toggle option would be widely appreciated I think. Who knows, maybe they are working on it? I mean we did not expect tyria gliding to be implemented yet we got it with a patch…lets keep optimism up!!!
Stop holding the spacebar. The longer you hold it makes no difference to your jump distance. Also if you fall the glider saves you time and coin.

No, slightly tapping the space bar and holding it result in exactly the same jump height and distance. There is no difference at all.
Holding the space bar only serves to deploy the glider as soon as possible. There is no other reason you’d ever hold down space than to glide.
ah I had no idea, I guess I’m too used to platformer jump height variations XD. good to know.

That’s true, and helpful to know, but it ignores how people actually play, separate from how they’re supposed to play. Enough other platforming games allow short jumps that many people have developed a reflex for it. Even if you know, that can be tough to fight. I know I still struggle at times to only tap the button, instead of giving it a good solid press, and that can be distracting while I’m trying to navigate a tricky jumping puzzle.
It doesn’t make the game unplayable, by any means, but it is frustrating, and people will continue to have this problem. It would be nice to have a “disable glider” option, alongside the existing “double tap to evade” option.
Really I think the issue is that some jumping puzzles are no-fly zones will others aren’t. It would be good to have consistency.
Too many players have been taught in other games that jump duration impacts height and it’s a tough habit to break. A duration slider to adjust how long the jump is held before glider deployment could be a way to keep both functions on the same key.

They should disable mesmer portals as well…
Huh, that’s a really good suggestion. Then devs could use that as a bool to essentially lock the chest if gliding is set to true as to prevent gliding exploits on them
Good idea. Also they should remove no gliding from JP dont think its neccessary.
