Global Guilds: What's your opinion?
http://www.anchauvies.net
This should have been implemented at the very start of Guild Wars 2. To me, this is merely ‘catch-up’.
The existing system destroyed some of the old established (International) guilds from GW1 when GW2 started. The same can be said for not implementing Alliances as well.
TBH, I dont think that there will be any noticeable changes to normal playing, except that it will bring in the various server chapters of the same guild into ‘one’ guild as it should be.

The global guild thing kind of threw me off. I don’t really have any complaints, but I’m surprised they’re not expanding things like merits, storage, etc. to fit the capacity.
Positive/negative impact? Would this take away from established server communities, or do you think it would create more stability? Do you think they’re moving in a good direction, and shifting the focus so that massive server transfers will have less of an impact on communities as a whole?
I snipped and kept the parts I only know to answer.
For the storage and such, I think its just architecture limitations on the engine.
I hope they do expand it out later. After all more merits and such sound like a good thing.
As for impact I see it as positive, but with massive growing pains.
For the reasons of RP guilds, WvWvW, and what ever other ‘server pride’ guilds out there this will be a difficult thing to accept.
For the casual gamer and those who were in the lower populated servers this is a boon to find more folks and enjoy it with them.
For the nearly non social, yet cordial, folks like me I’ll just ignore you all the same again.
Though now I can’t claim server differences when turning down guild invites. lol
Back to using the guild bank tag I guess.
I can see what ANet is partially trying to do: show new players and returning ones that having a server as a ghost town will be a thing of the past.
Problem is some of their game modes, like WvWvW, require some partitions in order for them to work.
Is your server getting whooped? Well you can’t call out to Lion’s Arch chat for help because now folks from other servers are there. Where can they recruit?
If they want us to use the LFG tool or LFG channel then it would help if they were a bit more useful to begin with.
Overall the older players will remember when they could go to a lower server and solo due to lack of players. Meanwhile newer players will wonder how some thing were ever completed with a ghost town.

Agreed with both of these. It’s a little late in the game, especially with bonded server communities.
