Hello,

While i was peacefully going about in WvW I saw someone who’s heaving armor was glowing in the dark. I only noticed it when we entered a cavern as it started to glow. It seemed to be mainly coming from the shoulders. It was a bit similar to the AC weapon glowing effect. My initial thought was that it was the AC armor because it looked like it, but it appears I was mistaken because a guildmate has it and confirmed me it does not glow in the dark. Does anyone know about this glowing armor/effect?

Maybe the fire one? CoF I think is the dungeon? I could be wrong.

Is it possible the player was wielding some sort of legendary weapon that was giving off a glow?

I can recognize the CoF armor immediately. It was not it. The AC armor is easy to confuse with another heavy.

The glow was distinctively coming from the shoulders. I do not remember the weapon she was wielding. She was not in combat at that moment. It is of course possible that it could have been the weapon, but i really don’t think it was.

it’s possible it’s the Legendary Shield, it gives off a very obvious glow

Was it a little purple Asura? If it was, it’s Reaver of the Mists and Wall of the Mists weapons, when sheated they are hardly visible, yet they give off a purple glow.
Maybe like this: http://i.imgur.com/tOtiW.jpg
Just when sheated makes my armor glow, because Asura are small I guess.

What color was the glow again? You said it was similar to the AC weapon night effect…does that mean it was blue?

The effect appeared to be blueish white. The glow was diffused a bit like a cloud around the shoulder area. It wasn’t the Guardian pauldrons you get when you create your character. These you can’t get them confused with anything else, wish i had kept mine :/.

You could always make a new character and take theirs via transmuting

Could it have been one of the “guardian” weapon skins, such as Eidolon?

Does Eidolon give out a glow when it’s on your back? Does it glow only in the dark?

It pretty much glows everywhere you go. It’s the model used for guardians’ Shield of the Avenger.

I was playing on my Guardian yesterday, he is still a newish char and is no where near having any legendary. My point? Lol sorry didn’t want to make the 1st sentance too long. Point is, he used a skill or got a level up I can’t remember then all of a sudden I noticed his whole body glowded white and stayed that way for sometime. I have never noticed this before on any char; mine or another’s.

Perhaps just a bug or extended skill/lvl up graphic that didn’t expire when it was supposed to?

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Hey, looking at that picture, I could see how from the back that shield could look like it was actually a spectral, glowing type of shoulder armor.

I found out what it was! It was pure luck, I encountered someone witht he same glowing armor effect. This time, I took screenshots http://i.imgur.com/rlicI.jpg
It appears the cause of the glow is actually the Greatsword Sunrise she’s wielding. Now it is more likely to be caused by the weapon since the effect was not showing when the weapon was sheathed http://imgur.com/pJ4Kh.jpg

Interestingly, the lady who had this weapon had never noticed this effect before i pointed it out to her. It really looks good http://imgur.com/oXhJ2.jpg

Is Sunrise the only legendary to carry this effect or is this related to all of them?

Actually that glow could be from the shield (Aegis Buff) since she has it active. This would also explain why you can only see it while weapons are out because this buff (glow) is not shown when weapons are stowed I think….

Try the t2, it actually gives a faint glow, pretty cool, but never really took close attention in the dark.

I don’t know if its the Aegis buff but, the whole body seemed to glow. If you take a look at these 2 screenshots, we can see a faint glow around the boots as well.

I’ll be jumping on to my Guardian a bit later on and I’ll do some testing when I find a dark area because when I noticed my glow yesterday it was only when I was in a dark cavern. Also that glow was covering my whole body very similar to what you described but is not so clear in those pics. Mine was very bright and noticable on the entire body.

AHAHAHAHA! I can’t believe I missed the most obvious thing:

The Legendary Greatsword. The wiki lists this, among other things, as special effects originating from the sword:

Blue sparkles pop off the player’s body while drawn

Mystery solved.

That’s from her legendary sword “Sunrise” being equipped and unsheathed.

Well after playing on my Guardian again and taking note of things a little more I can say it is def NOT from the Aegis shield and probably is from that Legendary weapon.

However I can confirm that upon level up you DO get a glowing white glow totally around your body and it stays for about 30 seconds – 1 min.

I don’t know if anyone here ever played Perfectworld but they had armours that glowed and I think there was maybe 4-5 different colours all depending on what the armour protected against. Add that with their glowing weapons and the game looked really nice to play. It was not hard to get those armours either and the weapons were simply buyable at about lvl 60 I think. No loops to go through really to get them like here with the legendaries….
