I rarely like when Anet changes or “fixes” something in the game, but the recent fractal change was really good, not only does it not waste my time to do every single level now when i can just do t4 and get rewarded on all but i also made about 22 gold from fractal dailies today from 2 ascended mats that dropped. So im being totaly serious when i say i like this change and its step in the right direction god job anet developers ^^

And on the flip side… I love many changes in the new patch but not the new fractals!
I only do low-level fractals and pug teams doing tier 1 stuff now suffer from the absence of the higher-skilled players who don’t need to do the tier 1 stuff because that reward is included in the tier 4 stuff. I’ve had some truly comical fractal experiences this week.

So, I say to all you fractal gods, spare a thought for us less-uber players and come help us for fun in tier 1 sometimes. A mixed team can carry a couple of inexperienced (or drunk…) players through a fractal as long as a couple of the other players know what they are doing. At times it has felt like I am herding cats….

I see your point however it is not fair to expect to be carried on fractals or any content if anything the thing that can kitten me of the worst is bad players in the game. If you want to do them faster 1 get better and get friends 2 get better and get a good fractal guild. the best fractal guild atm in my opinion is immortal kingdom for example.

Ah, I’m afraid I have to withdraw the cordial invitation to join us in lower level fractals. It seems you belong up there, looking down on the little people. I guess there is no you in “team”. Actually, you might be in the wrong game.

The real answer is to join a guild. Expecting complete strangers to do low level fractals to help you out, when they might have limited time or other goals is more like asking for someone to do something for your benefit alone.

But being in the right guild, a helpful guild, is different, because you’re just hanging out with friends, which is always fun.

I will often help guildies with low level fractals. I never pug low level fractals.

The reason your so good at Fractals is you have done them many, many times.
If you want to play with other high level players, just put that in your LFG post; but remember the only way new players coming into the game are going to get GUD as elites like to put it; is to put in those reps themselves.

One would hope you would seize the opportunity to help others learn what you now know. After all ….

I’m not sure I understand the purpose of this post. The lower level fractals are substantially easier than the higher level fractals, and thus require far lower individual skill to complete. A number of my friends are at the lower tiers, and they’re not “uber” players by any stretch, but they complete the content just fine. If people are joining your LFGs when you’re asking for experienced players and don’t know what’s going on, just kick them! If you’re not advertising for experienced players, maybe you should be! If you’re willing to help fellow lowbies learn the mechanics because you’re so altruistic, then you should do that and help everyone through it for a good time! Nothing about this is something ANet should do or even could do anything about; the burden is on you to find the people you want to play with. Good luck!

As an exclusive PUGer, I’d suggest chilling the kitten out and just do you. If you really want to be helpful to the OP, why not invite them to your Guild and help? Your advice didn’t seem so half hearted until that last part which pretty much brushes most new players aside.

I need to clarify, because I have muddied the waters a little with my flippancy. I’m not really begging for help in fractals.

The point I am making is solely about pugging fractals. Prior to the patch, players who regularly did high level fractals had an incentive to also do low level fractals, which led to very diverse, chilled and enjoyable low-level fractal parties. Now they have no reason at all to do those fractals, which has lowered the average skill-level in those low-level parties.

It’s an unintended side-effect of anet trying to persuade more folk to do the higher levels. I’m not really doing fractals any longer. But that is my choice.

@OP. Apologies for hijacking the thread. I don’t agree with some of your views but you are free to hold them.

Joining a guild (whether an official one or just a collection of friends) is definitely the best way to ensure you have a good fractal experience. However, it’s a heckuva lot easier to find PUGs every day than it is to find a guild that is a good fit for your needs/interests (or even a selection of guilds, each covering a different mode).

So it’s all well & good to say, “join a guild” — it’s quite another to make it happen.

In direct response to Ding MD: I think it’s actually better that the “gods of fractals” stick to T4 — going might be rough now for Tier 1, Tier 2, & Tier 3 but that’s because the change just happened; it takes time for the community to adapt (and, of course, longer for casual player, however we define ‘casual’). Eventually, folks will come forward that are good at lower-tier fractals and interested in doing them more often. Meantime, those that only want to run with the Bulls can join T4 and (mostly) avoid those who lack the gear and experience necessary for smooth runs.

tl;dr new arrangement will, in the long run, be better for all (at least, that’s my prediction — I don’t expect the new ‘equilibrium’ for 3-6 months).

Well, I’d say that high level players still have an incentive to do low level fractals, but only one per day: the 1-25 level daily. Take your time and learn from them on that one and ask questions if you have them.

Recently I did a bunch of low level fractals to get the 1-20 achievement right before the patch dropped, and there were a couple runs where I had to drop in the middle. One was on cliffside, where no matter how much explanation I gave of how the fractal had to be done, no one followed the directions. And I’m talking about simple things like “hey guys, I can’t hold the hammer any more, I need one of you to come back here and pick it up” followed by no one moving and me waiting until my 38 stacks of debuff were gone before I picked it up again and carried it the rest of the way.

So it’s a pleasure to help fractal newbies, but only if they listen to my help.
