So I’m just wondering… If someone bets me 50g to duel. And I win and they don’t pay? You guys have a “Report Scammer” button how REALLY effective is it?

I have screenshots if needed for proof of the scammer blatantly laughing about it and laughing at the fact NOTHING will happen. Which I’m sure he is right since I have little to no faith that nothing will happen to him for being a scammer. What’s stopping people from doing other things to other players in game to scam?

You need to blur our the person’s character name or remove the pictures. What you are doing is “naming and shaming” and is against the forum rules.

Also, the ToS describes scamming as “Taking advantage of another player (“scamming”) in order to take his/her items or account”

What you’re describing doesn’t come under this heading. From what I understand, somebody bet 50g that you wouldn’t win. You won, but didn’t receive 50g. You didn’t lose 50g, so your items weren’t taken. Yes, you were deceived, but you didn’t lose anything apart from a bit of your time.

I doubt you will have any luck when it comes to what boils down to as a friendly bet. The person in question will most likely not suffer any repercussions as there was no actual trade involved.

This may fall under “Gentlemen’s Agreement”, which the CS Team would not get involved in. I’m not sure what the screenshot proves, exactly. Whatever happens, your Gold will not be returned.

You can report the person, and the CS Team will investigate your claim. What you can not do is post it on the forums, as you would be breaking forum rules.

Good luck.

ANet will get involved in trade scams but you can bet they’re not going to get involved in arguments about who won a duel.

Block and move on.

I lost 25g to him the duel before. Then re dueled for 50g.

As others have said, CS will probably not help you. For two reasons.

First is the usual reason – that it would harm the economy to take back gold that was scammed from one player to another via someone being hacked. People who hack accounts and steal gold or scam players get their accounts permanently suspended, but the gold is not returned. You’ve not actually ‘lost’ anything in this case. You’ve just not been paid that’s all.

Secondly, I can’t see ArenaNet officially supporting gambling between players anyway, even if they did have a return gold to player policy.

If, however, the guy who was laughing at you was going “Hahahahaha you @&%!” etc, then you’ve got them on verbal abuse. But that’s a different issue.

Lesson learned: Don’t gamble!

Nothing really to be gained by discussing it on the forums. As suggested before, you can contact the CS Team, if you so desire. They may, or may not, inform you as to what the outcome of your report would be.

Good luck.

Wait a second.

Ignore the fact that you were promised 50g if you won, but didn’t receive it.

So, the first round the agreement was: If you (Hatuey) win, you get 25g. If you lose, you pay 25g. You lost, and gave 25g to the guy. (Which will never be recovered by CS- you willingly gave this guy 25g out of your own pocket).

Second (mutually exlcusive) round, stakes increase and you win. You don’t receive the money. Put it this way: at least you didn’t lose, then you really would have lost 50g.

Otherwise… are you saying that you won the first round as well and were promised 25g (that you didn’t receive) and then became surprised that you didn’t receive 50g for winning the second round?

Even if they decides that he did scam you, you will not get the money. They ban scammers, but they do not give the scammed party their stuff back.

I really doubt anyone would get banned over this, OP did not lose any money on the second match, and the first match wasn’t a scam.

Exactly You did a better job at phrasing that than I did!
