This gold selling spam has gotten out of hand lately. In the past 15 minutes I’ve received 5 messages. Just last week it was averaging maybe one message per and day before that rarely at all.

Can we get some better controls who can actually whisper us in game? Maybe some better controls over someone’s log in name. As it stands some random person can attempt to add me and they’ll know my username forever and this is what the gold farmers must be doing.

Last night my wife got whispered by a gold seller i blocked five months ago…

Been reporting them all day.. not helping at all it seems.

It baffles me as to how SOME get flooded with this crap and people like me MIGHT get 3 or 4 in 6 months.

It is a matter of “luck.” I have found myself on a gold seller’s friends list. They whisper, I report and block, then they whisper again from a different account. Rinse and repeat. I’ve blocked at least 9 accounts for this in the past hour. Almost every night I do the same thing over and over again. It is rather ridiculous really.

It would be nice if friending someone required mutuality. Otherwise you just open the gates to crap like this and even general stalking.

If people stops buying gold from them it wouldn’t be a profit and we all can play the games without seeing gold-spam

But it is wierd though that some gets as many as OP and I have got only a few… Also it feels like it does not matter where you are, I got the last whisper during a match in sPvP. I am though glad that they have fixed a report a gold-spammer option and I thought that blocked out them from every chat for me, including whispers?

But gold-spammers is a problem in every game.

Wouldn’t stop them completely but there should be a confirm/deny when someone friends you.

I;ve got them whispers while in a dungeon. … the more I post here the more whispers I seem to get ….. think anet needs to hide usernames or something.

I would love for gold sellers to drop out of existence but other humans will buy so they will sell. Every few months exactly the same post as the OP gets onto the forums. There is no sudden huge increase, they just target different people and see what response they can get. Also ANET tracks for a while to see where things lead.

They finally got around to me last night on Fort Aspenwood. I got 5 or 6 from separate accounts in the space of less than 10 minutes around 9 or 10 eastern time last night! I blocked and reported each one the moment it came in.

I think I disabled /whisper in my chat box and hopefully that ended it. But that’s a less than optimal solution. Anet help!

Thinking about it, I don’t get spam until I start posting on the forums.

They have bot that gathers account names off forums.

Anet, you should liek, do somethin’ unless you want to come off as supporting the gold sellers.

They won’t go away until they are reported. Even with the price cut on GW2, every ban is expensive and adds up quickly to gold sellers.
