Could we do something for goldseller whisper spams? I am just bein afk in HoTM like 2-3 min and when i return i am keep find my chat is spammed by goldsellers with whisper. Can u add some option about who can whipser me? like my friends, my guildmates.. etc . ? dont wann turn off my visibilty beacuse i cant read my guild chat when i turned off. And i dont wanna do it because of goldseller spams. Btw they are really anooyin my block list full of them. i hope there is no limit to block ppl. Thats not like to end goldsellers.

I’ve never had any such spam in this game. Quite refreshing after some of the other games.

Just report, block ’em and move on.

I had two last week in map chat in LA, but other than that it’s been quiet for a long time.

Honestly, I think they do. As someone that (at least tries to) play all three game-modes, the only time I ever see them lately is when I am waiting in the HotM.
That being said, it’s not that much that often… Like DoctorDing.5890 said above… Block, Report and ignore them.

They ban gold sellers as the are bad for the game.

Go look at the account & tech support section at all the people who have banned for participating in gold selling (either buying or selling).

I get one every so often. So do your part and report and block when you get one. ANet depends on us to report them. ANet has done a fair job to make their life difficult in creating spam bots.

Then you obviously haven’t seen the posts I was talking about. There have been posts by people who bought gold who tried to pass it off as “I didn’t buy it from gold sellers” or “I was set up” only for ANet to go, you bought it from gold sellers or you have a history of buying from gold sellers.

A thing to note, they whisper people using mapchat. 2 of us were chatting and with 5sec of each other we both said something about just getting golds seller whisper. Not suggesting you not use map chat but when you can/is appropriate use a less public chat. To whisper you they need to be close to target you or right click your map chat.

You can block and report by right clicking the name of any who whisper you (or post in mapchat). It’ll not only stop them from bothering you but also help Arenanet get rid of them quicker. Everyone wins… well not the gold sellers but that’s fine

Since HoT, particularly in the past 2 weeks, I’ve had quite a few gold spam whispers. I never had a single one prior to that. They hang out in the pvp lobby and whisper people using the bank, trade post, afk at the portal, etc. I’ve never once said anything in map chat there. It’s the only place I’ve seen gold sellers other than an occasional mapchat spam in Lion’s Arch.

It’s a pain, but I always report for gold selling on the first whisper, then report for spamming on the second whisper and block.

Everyone goes through long periods of no spam and short bursts of tons. I haven’t received more than two since HoT launched and the last ‘burst’ I had (a few months ago) amounted to three sellers in 24 hours.

/block, /report, and move on.

Gold sellers get your account name from the leader boards, so if you’re low in Achievement Points, you won’t get many, if any at all, whispers. While I’m not the highest by any stretch, I have over 20k and I seem to get several per day.

This has suddenly got really bad. Not just for me but other guildmates and players not in the guild are getting 4 or 5 in the space of a few minutes from pvpbank with names such as dsadsdasdaadasda

Seems to be mainly in HOTM and LA, but just now running round Frostgorge I got 2 in quick succession.

Yes I report and block, but they must have some sort of account generation exploit as the names are different each time yet consisting names like the one above so block is useless.

All I can do is disable whisper, and therefore lose the ability to chat with friend when in party or squad.

I haven’t had more than 2-3 gold spams within a 2 week span since the bear-bow ranger bot trains were shut down. Usually I get even less than that. My AP is above 20k.

Seems like everything was quiet until 2-3 nights ago. Suddenly it is relentless spam on my end.

Just wait until the next wave of bans to come.

They seem to come in spurts for me. Sometimes I get them once a day for a few days and then once every couple of weeks. I didn’t start having this problem till a couple of months ago. And like the above poster said, it seems to come under multiple names and it’s difficult and annoying to have to block each one as it rolls in. All occurances have happened without using map chat and I definitely have low AP. I’ve gotten them in regular maps and cities (not just LA.) In a regular map I thought maybe I had run past someone but I never found anyone that matched the names.
