Is it me or are gold sellers back to their old ways again? They were always there but it was rare but now they are spamming me in whisper every other day….

Yes, I noticed an increase in gold selling whispers as well. They can’t spam mail anymore, but now spam whispers.

So, block + report is all I can do.

what i don’t understand is how can they make a living, isn’t anet banning also the buyers? how people can trust buying from them? it isn’t that hardfor anet to ban them a mail from a suspicus account with 1000g atttached will definetly make some bells ring! i heard of some ppl getting banned for exchanging “few” hundreds of gold between friends to help making legends or precursors.
i recently bought dawn for my gf and mailed her, a while ago she borrowed me 280g to finish making twilight.
we were so scared about getting autobanned that we wrote messages into the mail for adin like “pls don’t ban us just borrowing to my bf!!!” is that a legnd?

I use my guild bank to exchange money between accounts…

My gut feeling is that the goldsellers are using stolen accounts that have already been completely stripped, so they lose nothing when they get shut down.

Personally, what I’d like to see is the option to block anything with a particular phrase. It’d shut down a lot of that spamming if we could just block any message containing the URL of the goldseller (it’s always the same one, which I’m not going to repeat here so as to not give them any more publicity).

The last few I checked (you can see where they spam from if you block them), all of them were in the Norn starter area, with names (account names) like sadfjsafsdf….

I get a few but not many- lately it is the xmas special offers.
The funniest one I had started with “I know you are a gold buyer…”
the cheek.

I very much dough that its more like due to being the holidays ppl are willing to spend more real life money on things they do not need during this time of the year.

Same, sometimes 15x spam in an hour (and yet i block all of them).

I have had a few tells since playing more often the past few weeks. A noticeable increase for sure.

I don’t even know how I got one of my messages. It would make sense getting them if I’m walking around Lion’s Arch, but I was doing a Fractal. Was one of my teammates secretly a bot O.o

Suppose you receive the following mail one day:

Thank you SO MUCH for ressing me. Too many people these days just walk on by when a few seconds could make someone’s day. I think kindness needs to be more rewarding.

I think many people in this situation would think that this person is way too rich, accept the money, buy a precursor, and get working on map completion. Banning people just for not looking the gift horse in the mouth does not create a happy player-base. And this WILL happen if Anet starts banning gold buyers, because that 1000 gold is worthless to gold sellers if they can’t find any buyers. It’s like giving out free samples, except that the people you are giving stuff to aren’t the same as the ones you are trying to attract.

tl;dr Gold sellers can make other people look like gold buyers pretty easily, so Anet cannot ban gold buyers. Gold sellers cannot make other people look like gold sellers, so Anet can ban them, but others have already explained why they do not care so much.

Definitely an increase, even had a message immediately on login.

If you grind it they will come.
