Ok, we all know we’ve seen the many messages from gold spammers on probably just about every GW2 server. I Report and Block every one but I’ve been told several times by different players that they’ve seen the very same spammers posting for more than a week and that they aren’t being banned.

WTF over?

Are you seriously telling me that Gold Spammers are running rampent over the map channels, spewing their spam and although many of us are reporting them every single time, they AREN’T being banned? Yes, I understand that many of these accounts are hacked accounts and banning the account would victimize the true owner. Uh… he/she has already been victimized and he/she can get the account back from ArenaNet after they show they are the true owner. They’d have to do that anyway cause the first thing any ‘hacker’ (account thief) is going to do is to change the password.

If the gold spam isn’t brought under control, many people’s game experience WILL be effected in a negative fashion – and some of them will quit in frustration. True, there will not be a loss in monthly subscriptions, but there will be a loss of the micro-transactions and they will be sure to express their displeasure far and wide. People that are upset do that – there are already posts on outside forums talking about the constant spam. How many people read those posts and may not buy the game in the first place because of posts like that?

They sold over 2 mill copies already – that’s great… but if the game is going to have a real future, they’re going to have to take those multiple Spam Reports and start banning accounts for those spams. If the account was hacked, let the owner call and recover their account. If we dry up the number of hacked accounts, the spammers will very quickly diminish because they’re not going to pay $60 for an account just to have it quickly banned.

ArenaNet – tell us that you’re working on making this happen – PLEASE. The game is too good to allow this major annoyance to affect the game this much.

I posted a similar message on another, almost identical thread.

First, these gold spammers are getting banned. ANet is getting a ton of reports, tickets, feedback messages and the like so it may take slightly longer than some people would prefer, but they are being dealt with.

Second, people are making a huge deal about these when really they’re just annoying. They aren’t actually doing any harm to your account unless you happen to be silly enough to try and buy the gold from them.

I was in Lions Arch today and it only took 2 minutes of afk to have my chat window filled with gold spam to such an extent it was impossible to discern what anyone else was saying.
The gold spammers were posting so much that I could at best read half a line before the text was scrolled off the chat window by gold spammers.

I’m talking about 5-6 different spammers posting in such rapid succession that it almost looked as if they were having a fight in chat over who would post the fastest.
It went so fast that if anyone else was posting in between I would not have seen it, and due to this its not impossible that I may have accidentally reported someone who did not deserve it despite my best efforts to avoid it.

So, these same people haven’t been blocking (and perhaps not reporting) them?

What I don’t really get is why ArenaNet didn’t actually make an option in the report menu called exactly Gold Seller. They could prioritize these reports and suspend the accounts faster. Instead, people either report them as spammers or scammers, and who knows, maybe some people can’t decide between those two options, and cancel the report they would’ve made.
