Gold Spamming getting WAY out of hand.
I’ve now had to disable whispers, and create a new tab for them, just to keep my sanity. They are now flooding my screen not only in the main cities, but all starting areas, and even Fireheart Rise, the last time I was there. This has got to stop somehow. Please tell me ANET can find a way.
You can only block and report, so that the Team can take appropriate action.
It is getting out of hand, anet should deal with this more aggresive imo.My blocklist is filling up with about 15goldsellers a day if not more.Thats 105 people added to my blocklist every week if this continues.
Though I agree with you, as my block list is getting long itself, I’m afraid its pointless in this thread as you have NAMED “they who must not be named”. Therefor your complaint is worthless in the eyes of Anet Devs/Mods.
Voldemort!
We need a status similar to “invisible” but that allow guys on our friendlist to whisper us.

If you get angry at a little bit of pink text on your screen every once in a while maybe it’s time to re-evaluate your life. Report and move on.

Every once in a while is one thing. But you go and chat in Lion’s Arch and then come report back here how you feel after getting whispered every 30 seconds or so.
(I should note that my spam always comes after using map chat in Lion’s Arch, so I simply don’t anymore… which is really rather sad.)

Because we can’t be angry about both?
I once walked into the pvp mist lobby and got about 5 spam whispers at the same time all with really huge pink texts. They caused me to disconnect from server.

Oooooh so that’s why I only ever get like 2 of these a day. Duly noted.
I was in Labyrinthine Cliffs today, and literally got around 6 or 7 in about 2 minutes. That’s the worst spam binge I’ve ever gotten.
It’s bad, but I do the same thing I always do. Report and Block. It’s sad, really, seeing all those hacked accounts.
Gold selling hasn’t “gotten out of hand”. Yes it IS rediculous, but there aren’t really anymore of them than there has ever been. In fact, there are a LOT less of them now than at launch and shortly after. It only appears this way because of the Mega server update.
What used to be 1, or maybe 2, gold bots per server/map spread out across 20+ different servers/maps, has been condensed to 5-10 gold bots per Mega server shard. Yes, it is more frustrating than ever, but this is a direct correlation to not having ‘empty’ zones.
Right now, we just have to take the good (for what that’s worth) with the bad since the implementation of the Megaserver system. I’m certain that Anet was fully aware of this and determined the good outweighs the bad.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been PMed by gold sellers.
Because I don’t pay attention to them.
Because they have no impact on my gameplay.
It’s pretty decent.

Not a bad mindset. Though I still report and block.
It’s not actually speaking in Map Chat that makes you a target of the gold sellers. What’s actually happening is that the gold sellers position their bots near popular zone in points, like the Minister’s WP in DR (everybody goes there to bank), the Heart of the Mists (everybody zones in in the exact same spot), and previously in Vigil Keep (everybody leaving WvW or PvP would zone in in the same spot). The bots then have a script that clicks on that precise zone in spot, nabs your character/account name by clicking on the X/Y coordinates of your portrait, and starts to whisper.
This is also why you don’t seem to get targeted as much in the new LA, since there are three crafting/banking hotspots (some of which have waypoints that are more or less equi-distant) and the bots don’t really know which one to go for.
30 seconds after logging in got 2 gold selling ads. Friendly ppl!
PS. 30 seconds later got 2 more. Wow.
Hi everyone,
