There’s also the AB farm.
I just play the game and somehow my wallet fills up quickly.
You mentionned SW, well every now and then I set myself these objectives like “let’s farm 1000 bags and open them all at once”, or “let’s do 100 dungeons and see if I get rare loot”, or “let’s do Tequatl 100 times and see if I get an ascended weapon box”, and that seems to be how I make the most money.
Otherwise pretty much everything you do in game earns you gold, for as long as you’re not just sitting around in one of the cities doing nothing.

I think this is what people are struggling with.
There so many ways to make gold in this game, it’s no wonder they feel they can’t get a straight answer, because there really is no straight answer.

I know what you mean, but that’s a huge strength in this game, really. It’s what makes it non-linear. People do various things and always have stuff to talk about.
“You’ve been farming bosses lately? Neat, how’s that going?”
“Yeah it’s pretty good. Heard you’ve been raiding a lot?”
Gives the game this sense of community, you know. It ain’t your stereotypical korean MMO where everyone just follows some boring linear questline to level 80 then farm the same dungeons over and over.
You just have to grasp the fact that you’re free to do what you want I guess.
As far as bags go, open them on a low level character. The most profitable level isn’t always the same, but https://silverwastes.loltools.net/index.html tracks it

L53 is always within a few percent of max, if you only have one toon slot available for this
Currently: farm Mad King’s Labyrinth for bags and candy corn; store them until the event ends then sell them when the price climbs. Or, if you like, sell them right away. It’s a fast, cheap farm.
For other farming that garners lots of chests, bags and random drops the money comes from salvaging everything. You can sell the mats directly, or – if you have some crafting skill, refine those mats and then sell them. For example, turning wood in to planks.
Even a low level character on a starter map harvesting wood can make some nice money by refining what they’ve harvested.

Not very profitable but when you’re bored: Make a mesmer, get good at jumping puzzles, ask for tips when you teleport people around. XD
