This is the only way to avoid them from whispers.
We need an option to let friends and guild members whisper please.

Well that would certainly explain why Anet continues to remove threads that are related to gold selling in anyway. Even threads were people have legitimate complaints about gold selling and come up with ways to reduce/stop it are being removed.

Gold sellers have forced me to untick my whispers box (in turn, ignoring ALL whispers) because anet refuse to give us the option to only receive messages from friends and guildmates (or only appear online to friends and guildmates, and not randoms).

And yes, I made several posts about it months ago. All of which, were ignored as usual.

Some people even have the nerve to come up with suggestions to reduce gold selling, unacceptable.

That’s great and all, except for every one you report, three more start whispering.
It seems like there’s a never ending supply of hacked accounts or accounts made with the sole purpose of spamming kitten.
If your game sessions consists in playing the block and report game, I’m glad it works well for you guys.
But it’s obvious that something needs to be done. And I mean more than deleting forum threads. Because that’s the only thing Anet seems to be doing.

It’s strange, people keep complaining about gold sellers, yet I receive very few whispers. Even after the megaserver update. I guess i get put into the lucky server where they aren’t there?

Block and report is the best policy. You can always set your whispers to a different chat channel, and report the unwarranted messages at your leisure.

And have you seen any improvement in-game? Less spamming? Just because they said they’ve been banning and stuff?
Set my whispers to a different chat channel? That’s your solution?
What if I get a real whisper from a friend or a stranger asking me something?
Do I have to sweep through the clutter so I don’t miss on the real whispers?

I am equally as annoyed about as you guys.

There I am carrying on with my day, then I decide to change my dyes and boom! Spammed by about 5-10 messages gold sellers at once. I try to report them but sometimes they end up coming in faster than I can do so.

This has happened every day for about a week as well, I am really growing tired of it and beginning to have second thoughts about logging into GW2

From the start, Anet should have just have “muted” the goldsellers. Then just a few players would have to block and report, the rest would never see them. The goldsellers wouldnt know and just happily spam away in silence, though Anet probably should have a way to let goldsellers spam eachother, so the sellers could check that the spamming worked.
This could even reduce the accounthacks, as the sellers would need fewer accounts to spam from.

I’ve been leveling a new character lately, so I didn’t understand the fuss as I’d gotten maybe 3 whispers total. I got on some of my level 80’s to do the Gauntlet and my God it was just an avalanche of whispers from gold sellers. My eyes have been opened. It’s unbearable and completely out of control.

I also found myself switching to invisible while visiting places like LA, DR and PvP lobby. Which is frustrating as 1) I can miss an event whisper from the megaguild and 2) I have to switch it back and forth manually every time.

Dont bother. AN knows it. And they will remove the post soon since you are not allowed to speak/discuss about hackers or gold sellers… Thanks AN

I too find their repeated closing of threads complaining about gold sellers and even attempting to come up with solutions to be incredibly ridiculous.. especially as the message they use to close them makes it sound like people are promoting said activity. I would guess they’re trying to sweep this quite large problem under the rug.

I haven’t had many either, except for one time I was in Gendarren while Vigil Keep was still the gate center. FFFFFFF-

It was relentless. Four different accounts spamming all at once. I can definitely see why people are upset, if this happens all the time.

Happens a whole lot more in FF14 though. I’ve started talking back to them as friends~ Doesn’t help. ;_;

Discussions of gold selling, in-game abuse, hacking, exploiting, and the like are not allowed on the forums. If you feel a player is abusive in-game, please report them using the in-game ticketing system so our Customer Support team can properly investigate the issue and take any appropriate action.
