Gold selling nightmare
ArenaNet is banning them as fast as they can, I’m sure. But the problem is, when you ban one, two more seem to pop up in their place. Just report them for spamming and then block them. That’s pretty much all we can do right now.
I honestly feel sorry for the guys at Anet that got stuck with the job of tracking the gold sellers and banning them.
So long as there exists a tradeable currency in MMO, so to will gold bots. No gold? They’’ll just find something else of value to trade. It’s hard to totally remove them, you can really only just keep them as supressed as possible. It doesn’t hurt that they’re selling their gold at better conversion rates than you get from buying gems from Anet and turning that into gold.
It’s better to report gold sellers as a Scammer because that’s what they do.
I had an addon in WoW that blocked all gold spam, it was great. Why can’t we have that here?
ive been playing RIFT since launch and one of the things they did was was making plat very easy to get. There has hardly ever been gold spamming in that game. No plat spammers and everyone is rich. Its a win win.
I have no idea what happened today. Up to yesterday the maximum amount of gold spammers I’d seen at the same time was two, and only once. Today I logged in and we had FOUR gold spammers cluttering map chat in Queensdale, it was insane.

Well, someone from the team oriented us here in the forums to report as “spamming”. And I doubt they’re all scammers to be honest.
Before yesterday i skimmed past these topics, but yesterday and today has seen my mail box flooded with gold spam.
I thought you couldn’t receive an amount of gold that you haven’t earned in events throughout the game. So..shouldn’t that make gold selling impossible for the most part?
Make a brand new character with whatever random name you can come up with.
They will have mail waiting for you now.. It is really sad and ruins the gameplay.
I really hope they do something ASAP
I’m sure scamming is a worse offense than spamming and so I report gold sellers for scamming. They are either real-money-trading or stealing accounts, either way its a scam because they are both against ToS.

dude, this game is like 2 weeks old… just deactivate the chat and im sure there will be an update (either of anet or a mod) that will do that exact same. just be patient
@topic:
its not only spamming in chat (which i completely ignore cause i deactivate the /map chat for various reasons. btw the chat feature where u can add multiple registers and customise them is superb. i really love it ^.^), recently i receive ~ 5 mails / day that offers me the “best gold sale blabla”. thats a bit more annoying but still a thing i can deal with.
therefore im sorry if i just posted some outdated stuff
also maybe a similar thread exists already, in that case im sorry for double post.
Doesn’t ANet sell gold? lol Why would anyone want to try and sell something already being sold?
Because they sell it cheaper.
Nobody has learned by now that they just take your money and hack your account, it’s ridiculous how stupid people can be. If no one ever bought any of their gold they would not exist.
Oh and don’t you love when you’ve typed only 2 things in chat, and then you get the message “Your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging…” when you’ve only said 1-2 things, and then you see someone spamming about buying/selling Gold repeatedly?
These people/bots do not sell gold, they lead you to their website where they either get your account or credit card. Then they hack into your account, take your gold and then use your account as a bot and get it banned. As long as their are people foolish enough to be lead on by these hackers then they will never run out of accounts to use to spam and scam.
They also actually sell the gold, otherwise there would be no profit in it.

Sometimes you type only one thing and the second line is blocked with that message. Good thing we use voice or it would be really annoying trying to explain things to people.
If i’m not mistaken, there isn’t any trial accounts currently. So the gold sellers are possibly using the hacked accounts to get the messages out there. Why would they want to risk their own accounts? So banning those spammers isn’t going to do much because the hacked player would want their account back. They need to fix the security hack problem and I bet we see fewer spammers.

No they are not banning them. The same people are being allowed to continue spamming all day and night on the exact same accounts.
As a side note I have noticed something that is going on. The people I put on block list for spamming are constantly going on and offline. It appears to me there may be an exploit of some type by doing this. There are currently 5 online of the gold spammers i have blocked and they all keep going online/offline every few seconds.
It is amazing how long it takes to ban gold ad spammer. I have watched now almost hour how two accounts are used to spam Lion’s chat in my server.
They just need to check spam reports and click ban button – in fact – they could do this automatically by using reports from multiple server and simple string pattern matching.
well, i do hope they come with a solution fast. yes, sadly, some dumb ppl do buy gold, knew someone who did, he got his computer hack and his infos stolen.
either gw2 make gold/items more available, or come up with another way to stop this.
i wont buy gold, either from those scam or from gw2. i think trying to buy ingame gold for real money is dumb, even from the game creator.

True.
They could implement a filter in which they collect all these well known gold selling sites, because there are only so many of these sites, and block any attempt of typing these sites in chat.

Please report them. Customer Support will investigate and take action. The team is aware of the issue, we’re continuing to work on better ways to combat RMTers, as we’ve said on many other threads. There is no need to make another thread about it. Thank you.
