Yet again i log in and get spammed by someone called something like fgsfsfssfsfssfsfsfsfs every 20s trying to sell me Eternity for $300 – I block them after they have repeated the same msg (with a random 3 digit number at the end) about 10 times like I usually do however…

Can we please have an option to block repeated whispers? It would be great to be able to check a box that prevents someone whispering me more than say once per 15 mins if I dont reply to them. Or better, an option where I can select the number of mins/hours/days (not including guildies/friends ofc).

Its just the “spam until blocked” means I am forced to not just ignore the spam but to actually block the individual – who will just create another similar account the next day and do it again. I do not want random people spamming me, ever, one whisper ok but multiple (like one per 20s forever) – NO!

Im confused. If you have blocked them, they cant spam you. Repeated messages are multiple spammers or same person, diff accounts. There would no way to block multiple spams in the way you’d suggest.

Right clicking and reporting them also blocks them. Sadly there’s no real way to tell who’s a legit whisper and who is spamming with totally turning off your ability to receive whispers.

I suppose a “only receive whispers from friends” option would work for the symptom, but the current easy report+block actually addresses the source. In general these spammers get shut down pretty fast by anet because of this. If it were easier to ignore them without reporting them, they’d remain a problem for far longer for a much larger number of players.

ive gotten a total of 3 whispers since i started playing. two the first day of free to play, one the day after, none since.

Hate to say it, but whatever they are doing to keep spammers out its working in my book.

Not working for me, I log in quite regularly and get spam (almost always in Divinities reach by the bank). My point is actually very simple,

Why should I have to right click and select block? If I dont reply that should be enough.

NB. Its not one whisper I have a problem with, its getting the same whisper over and over again until I block the person.

then just block them and move on.

There is no good reason why the player shouldn’t decide who to block and when. Are we so lazy now that we want Anet to spend resources automating this function so that it decides for us?
