So… After having accumulated quite a bit of gold playing the TP, what am I suppose to spend them on? I pretty much have everything I wanted…

Put on a Santa Suit and hand out money to new characters as they first appear in the world (can you mail to anyone or do they first need to be friended?).

Try to fix single-handedly the T5 material pricing problem by buying up all of that +1c mat and sell them to a vendor. 8,000 gold is 10 million silk scraps. Market has only 2-3 million currently. At the end of the day (or week, that’s a lot of scrap) you will only be out 1,000 gold.

It’s nothing impressive to be rich in this game, there’s so many flaws in the market. It’s also really easy to invest.

If you like to play markets in a virtual world, then I would suggest Investopedia stock simulator game that is available for free. At least you’ll feel like you accomplished something.

That is why I referred the stock simulator game, it’s as close to the real world you can get without actually spending money.

The gold in this game is truly valueless, which is why its really easy to make tons of gold.

No, you buy something and hold onto until the market rises. A perfect example is when the ectoplasm in the game was 25s, if you invested in hundreds of exctoplasm you would have made a fortune selling them for 40s in the future.

Also, Guild Wars classic had the same result. there was a time where a new farming method game out and dropped ectoplasm to 5.5 platinum. I invested in a ton of ectoplasm and ended up selling hundreds of ectoplasm for 7 platinum.

The way to make money is virtually the same in every game. You need money to make money, and the biggest profits are made by holding something until the price rises and you sell it.

Contrary to popular belief, you very rarely make money in games by “short selling” the products. (Buying the product and selling it higher within the same day, hoping to control the market.)

Time is money.

There are many people with surplus such as this…issue I have with it is b/c it has effect on items when they out number the supply of certain items……ie players like this can and do afford certain items thus the items have the ability to be priced out of the reasonable range of most players that do not partake in …well playing the tp. This is why I believe they should put a cap on potential tp earnings…much like they have put a cap on item farming via dr. Atm we have a cap on the lesser and no cap on the greater. It really is counter intuitive and makes me question some of the common sense going into or lacking within.

Like real life once you reach a certain threshold of wealth it suddenly becomes easier to make more. It’s tough to flip homes or own rental property from scratch if you only have $100 to your name when it’s a lot easier if you start with $100,000. Every success brings in more money that will allow you to flip the next home or buy another duplex which brings in more money, etc. Soon you are a tiny Donald Trump, making your money in real estate.

Well, you could always try making your own events, racing, jps, hide and seek, etc with gold prizes or named weps/armor and such.

I usually make it a point to buy stuff for events every week, about 50g. I don’t stock up my wealth like that though, so I find random things to spend it on. But events are always fun for everyone.

When you have everything you wanted there s only 3 things you can do with excess money:
a) make more money with it
b) give it away
c) sit (or swim) on/in it

You r obviously tired of doing a and it looks like you r not doing b so i guess you should go on the suggestion forum and suggest they make you a tower so you can swim in all your gold.

If you by any chance loose your sanity (before or after the swimming) and do b i ll be glad to take some of that gold of your hands.

Maybe if they ever introduce player housing you could have a nice villa in the country.

Buy everything the gem store has to offer.

Convert to gems to purchase more slots for alts, use gold to craft to 80 and outfit them all in one sitting. See how many you can get to 80 and outfit in a 24 hour period.

Buy every single model of weapon on the TP for your alts. (Hmmm. Maybe not. Cash flow problem there.)

Give it all away and start over. (No, I do not need anyone’s money, thank you. My 40 alts and I are ok.)

Admit you “beat the game” and leave.

Go get a real life job at one of the Wall Street firms which “takes” (not earns) a cut of the economy in ways normal people can’t see.

Realize that past the point where your marginal propensity to consume is zero, money is, and is only, a way to keep score.

And maybe, just maybe, act the way Andrew Carnegie did in the waning days of his life and become someone who gives back to the community, not just a predator who manipulates markets and prices for personal gain.

Congrats on the gold, a massive feat nevertheless. I do agree that there isn’t much stuff to buy in GW2 but you got to earn the other things.

As someone who is struggling to buy exotic sets for each of my toons, I find gold to be extremely useful. Unless I go into uber purchase mode and spend all my time investing, I don’t see any way that I will come even close to that amount of gold.

If you were to start a charity, all I’d ask for is 50 gold. That should be more than enough to outfit my remaining toons.

Congrats on all of the gold. If you are struggling for ways of using it, you could always just give it away, preferably to me.

But once you’ve realized your marginal propensity to consume is zero, then my suggestion is the obvious choice.

You should post a thread in the forums asking what to do with it, and then give some of it away to the posters who provide the best ideas. You can start with me, that was my idea

You got enough money for 4 skins. I’m pretty sure there are use for money, buy legendary, buy personal license for your main and every alt, buy commander tag. Level up a bunch of alt, buy tier3 armor. The question is if it is worth for you.

Only reason you need that much money is for skins, fluffy item, convenient item, or trying to be warren buffett of the GW2 world.

Quite honestly I think you fit in the 4th category. Try to make money for the sack of making money.

I’m actually in the same boat as you. Just that I have alot less gold. I give up on legendary and farmed money to buy some personal license. Now I just farm gold, just for farming gold.

Kitten unbelievable topic this is, why’d someone accumulate so much gold? Then ANet should not cater for that extent of hardcore’ing, I agree with the guy above.

First few things that came in mind were:
The emperor title.
Collect all minipets
All legendaries or any other special weapon skin for that matter.

You could always buy&make stacks of superior siege for Commanders you know/like. Buy all upgrades for camps/towers/keeps all the time as you wonder by.

/jelly i would be happy to even have a a 1/100th of that to spend without worry for Legendary mats.

After this patch, you could also open an arena and name it Sky Arena. Free for everyone to participate.

Perhaps you don’t have to worry about the gold so much as the next topic you prolly end up making will be “omg halp gmz pls I got hackinated!!1!”.
