Guild Wars 2

After 3 days of farming SW i all of a sudden got in game mail with anet emblem titled Portal to the Heart of Thorns iirc, saying that i got into beta. I heard ppl getting these mails as long as the portal item drops but you dont actually have to loot the item. I ran around retracing my steps to see if i missed any loot but i didnt… So i have the mail that is 100% legitimate, but i dont have the portal item or the 25 silver it comes with

So, can an Anet rep please comment on this situation. Does me getting a mail mean that i missed my loot somewhere, or does anet give out beta access without portal drop, or maybe even without being in SW or DT now?

Also, if something similar or weird portal/beta related happen to anyone else, please post here

The item probably ended up vanishing before you got back to where ever it dropped would be my guess.

Makes you wonder, exactly how many of you have left behind precursors?

But i was under impression that if you run too far from the mob you were hitting it resets your right to any of the loot.

Ie top right of map is fighting a vet that takes 2 mins. You hit the vet, say, 3 times and run all the way to bottom left of map and stay there for 2 mins. After vet dies, does the corpse still have your loot, provided you get there on time to loot it?

Loot isn’t determined until you collect it or open it in the case of champ bags. They must’ve done something differently in regards to the portal.

That’s my guess as well. A friend of mine was doing SW with me defending Indigo, and we started whacking some mobs just before Breach happened (devourers, hyenas) and he claimed he got the mail, but no portal. He didn’t provide any proof, but I trust his word.
