Gratitude Topic
I’m pretty thankful to finally have an MMO with enough innovative fun to keep me from feeling like I need to max my level or gear as quickly as possible.
I’ve been putting in some serious hours, but have yet to hit 40. I’ve quested, crafted, farmed, played the AH, and just plain explored for the heck of it all with great satisfaction.
For me it is the awesome surprises you find when you actually go exploring the map. The point that looks like a dead end but when u get to it a mob is guarding a rich copper vein or best yet a chest. this game rewards you for going off the beaten (to death) path. Kudos Arenanet just kitten loads of kudos. Not a nook or a cranny I will leave unfound!!!
Im loving this game. what i think i love most about it is exploring the zones and getting 100% in each area. then once im done with an area the excitement of walking toward the portal to the next zone wondering what type of landscapes and creatures the next area will have in it. theres other stuff i love about this game to, but that is what i love most about gw2 is the exploration.
Thanks for creating the thread.
I want to thank Arenanet for doing a great job on this game. After beta, I knew that I would love the graphics, music (Soule has been my fav since Skyrim), rpg elements like personal story and exploration. Arenanet said they were trying to create a fun game and for me even after a month and having hit lvl 80 cap, they have delivered. I am still having fun and finding more and more new things to do.
But now I want to address what surprised me. I do not know how Arenanet has done it but they have managed to get me to like things that I a) have hated in the past in other games or b) said even during beta, I would not do or like.
1. Dungeons
I hated dungeons before GW2. Hated doing them and especially repeating them for “gear.” The dungeons in GW2 have been a punishing experience for me. So why has this been my consistent reaction? After completing story mode AC with a pug, my first thought was “I want to do that one again. I know we can do better.” I have had the same reaction for the other dungeons. Want to do them again to try new things and improve.
2. Repeating Content
I hate repeating content. Even during the GW2 beta, I liked the DEs and hearts but remember thinking “hope there are tons of these because I will not be doing them again.” I was not thinking this because they were bad or boring. It was because I know how I am about repeating content. So again, why do I find myself going back to areas to repeat DEs? Even with the recent anti-farm code change, I still want to do some DEs and even hearts again. Why? Because I had fun with them. Now don’t get me wrong, some are “meh” and unforgettable. But there are many that I do enjoy doing again no matter the zone or reward.
3. PVP
I have had mixed experiences with PVP in other games. I like doing it every now and then but usually get bored after a while. Now I find myself addicted to WvW. I have spent so much time playing WvW that I still have not finished my personal story or even stepped into sPVP. I have to force myself to leave because it is getting late and yes, I have a job and need sleep. I am shocked by how much I like WvW.
So overall, I think that for me, Arenanet has delivered. I found a list in these forums of things to do now that I am lvl 80. I have only done about half of those so I am now on a mission to experience more of both the PVE and PVP content/activities. For me, the game is fun and has managed to keep my interest. The only game that will pull me away from it is Assassin’s Creed 3 in late October – must do my part for the American Revolution. Then I will be back.
